Completely lacking leadership

Post: # 1864807Post Life Long Saint »

Lost four out of five games decided by one goal or less.
Why?

No leadership on the field.
Hasn't been there since Rooey retired.

Paying now for not blooding leaders like we did under Thommo.

Geary and Ross are not up to the job.

I do now agree with others on here who want Geary to be dropped.Looked very slow ,with ball in hand like a rabbit in the headlights.Tonight we really needed a captain to lead when the game was there to be won he didnt

Steele the obvious next captain
Agree Geary doesn’t have the pace to play on small forwards now

Steele and Marshall are the leaders here

You can't have ypur least skilful player as captain....and now he can't keep up ...Gears, God bless him, has to go.

Ratten needs to show leadership here.

Savage/ Roberton/ even Webster more value

I actually think we do not lack leadership. We have Geary, Steele, Billings, Hill, Membrey, Butler, Ross, Ryder...sadly, Geary and Ross are deemed too important.

Geary has no skill to move the ball & us forward now Paton is there.

Ross is one sided and the fact he's a two time B&F (when Roma should have won one) is a sad indictment of where St Kilda is.

Geary is a liability. Having to pick him every week hurts us. Should do the right thing and stand down

Let him get to 200, we are not up to beating Geelong or Richmond.

Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

Yes, we have leadership in those two. The idiotic loyalty to Geary is pathetic. He was finished five years ago. The worst Saints captain I have seen in 60 years.
If he had any self respect he would go now.

Offers nothing now. Sad really. He would be just as useful on the bench delivering the message from Ratten and get Ratten up top. Wouldn’t get a game if he was a 20 year old. Give Marshall captaincy even though Seb is there. If I was a player I’d fall in behind Marshall and get to work

Gears will go the way of Kosi...he'll get 200.

But team selection AND flexible game plans are a MUST!

Maybe the silver lining in this slump, and let's hope it aint" one of those Gold Coast/North Melbourne seasonal washout where we look good until the 60% mark, is that we now know we are just ordinary and need to do something.

You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

He doesn’t have the pace to play on the slow ones either. Can’t believe we’re so poor when the tide turns and the momentum shifts.

Our so called leaders are bereft. Ross played very well tonight but I wouldn’t get milk from the shops for him let alone run through a brick wall.

Amongst others Billings was again a real disappointment and liability for 2 weeks straight.

Talk about leadership, he has zero. Most of his possessions are cheap and soft give and get well outside the stoppages.

Geary has now played 199 games.
The club owes him game 200 before he retires at season end.
He can play game 200 against Hawthorn, West Coast or GWS.
We absolutely must beat Hawthorn no matter what.
A win against West Coast is unlikely that is the game for 200.
Rest against Hawthorn next weekend then get ready to play West Coast on the Thursday.

I think blow torch should also be on Billings one sided player goes missing too often in games and very disappointing for me for a player reportedly on good coin.

get him to 200. he may turn back the years for one game. but when it comes to owing players special consideration our club appointed this b grader over roo, denying him the chance of an afl record. and for what? absolutely naught. he was still much more a leader on the field in that year, and much more a player. still befuddles the mind, some of our clubs player managment.
