The only thing stopping Superman Steele is kroptonite.

Don't make a song and dance Jack - just sign at fair value and keep playing good footy.

Re: More good news
I hate most teams for various reasons.
But there is one and only one team apart from us I have never disliked - and that’s Hawthorn.
And it's for a few reasons - they were a top team in the 80’s when I was teenager and went to a few of their games with my grandfather and his best friend who was a Hawks fan - so some family/friend influence.
Plus Kennett factor - our best ever premier!
Saying that, I’m St Kilda through and through and have no soft spot for them we play Hawthorn

Growing up during the 80s, I admired Hawthorn. I loved their style of play and there was also the Alan Jeans connection.saintspremiers wrote: ↑Sat 29 Aug 2020 10:37amI hate most teams for various reasons.

In the early 80s, I made the decision to start barracking for them, but that didn't last a week as it didn't feel right, even though we were only winning 3-5 games a season during most of that horror decade.
Hawthorn is a great club but their success has made them and many of their supporters very arrogant and dislikeable. I’ll never forget how some of their supporters carried on at the 2008 Preliminary Final. The ones around us carried on like absolute swine. Their behaviour was disgusting.

Re: More good news
got to admire the hawks. and port were my first footy team - sanfl was bigger up here than the vfl back in the 70s. still the greatest football dynasty for mine. it was one team against everyone else. a real pity the afl diluted their brand on entering.

Re: More good news
Port have a long and proud history that isn't well respected in Victoria, but that was always going to happen when entering the competition. Was there any other way?desertsaint wrote: ↑Sat 29 Aug 2020 11:49am got to admire the hawks. and port were my first footy team - sanfl was bigger up here than the vfl back in the 70s. still the greatest football dynasty for mine. it was one team against everyone else. a real pity the afl diluted their brand on entering.

Re: More good news
As a footy orphan - neither of my parents were into footy whatsoever - I initially supported Melbourne as a 7 year old because it was my best friend’s team, but didn’t go to games or have any real connection.SaintPav wrote: ↑Sat 29 Aug 2020 11:38amGrowing up during the 80s, I admired Hawthorn. When I was 12 along comes another schoolmate - this time it’s Carlton - so I start supporting Carlton! I went to a few games over the next two seasons I think - 1982 and maybe 1983.
But then I saw the light - was going with my grandfather who lived walking distance to Moorabbin to more Saints games than Carlton ones - so I switched to the Saints just as we became garbage!!
Then in 2002 I moved to Brisbane for work - thought about supporting the Lions as I was getting fairly dissolutioned with the Saints - but nothing came of that, and the Lions won two of their three flags when I resided up there!

Re: More good news
that was well and truly decided in our last game of tne year in 97. i was there at footy park in the port members section. a port win would see them in the 8, whilst we would win the minor prem. by halftime i was amongst the enemy screaming for the saints. my uncle never invited me to the footy again.SaintPav wrote: ↑Sat 29 Aug 2020 11:53amPort have a long and proud history that isn't well respected in Victoria, but that was always going to happen when entering the competition.
