Collingwood response re: Robbie Muir
Not a bad response from the Filth. https://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/news/8 ... obert-muir
Can’t believe the deathly silence from the AFL however.

Glad they did that. Goes nowhere near righting the wrongs, but better that they said this than said nothing .
The AFL issued an official apology yesterday.

Re: Collingwood response re: Robbie Muir
That’s the difference right there isn’t it?
We have a club patriarch who commands Muir’s respect and Muir himself still loves the Saints. Ans our supporters in the main seem to have an affection for Rob. And our CEO got on the front foot and issued an unqualified apology.
Over at filth-land - Lamumba hates Collingwood, hates Buckley and wants to inflict the maximum amount of damage on the way through. Their fans can’t stand Lamumba; their CEO has been silent and the President has done a Dan Andrews and called an enquiry and is hiding behind it.
As terrible as the Muir situation is ... I’d much rather be us with our lot than the filth with Lamumba. We get to welcome an ex-player back and mend a wrong.
Lamumba’s going to keep potting them from the US til his work is done.

Correct. Lumumba ain't gonna quit.
A whole football department thought it was OK to call him Chimp (And this is in the 2000s)
And then they try to silence him.
Well...he's Not in the mood to be silenced any more.
He warned Eddie about being on the right side of history after the Adam Goodes fiasco.

Not impressed with that response... very ‘let’s at least say something in the least committal way possible’. I know it’s the climate but it reeks of the old Wayne Carey sorry if you were offended.

Legal action?

Under our quaint and archaic libel laws he can sue the ABC for publishing the allegations. That might be what he has in mind.SaintPav wrote: ↑Tue 25 Aug 2020 1:53amLegal action?

I’d expect so. The laws differ from state to state, which is a problem because the interweb reaches everywhere. It’s a minefield of things conceived hundreds of years before social media. You’d need an expert in defamation law to untangle itsaynta wrote: ↑Tue 25 Aug 2020 11:34amTruth would be a defence I would have thought.bigcarl wrote: ↑Tue 25 Aug 2020 6:16amUnder our quaint and archaic libel laws he can sue the ABC for publishing the allegations. Re: Collingwood response re: Robbie Muir
Yeah, that's why Litigants pick the jurisdiction where truth is not an absolute defence and whether or not in the public interest comes into it. Still Robbie would have a good chance of successfully defending any action but only an idiot sues someone with no money and I'm sure the ABC ran it past it's lawyers first. Shaw is an idiot though but his name would be mud in this day and age if he went through with his threat.bigcarl wrote: ↑Tue 25 Aug 2020 11:48amI’d expect so. The laws differ from state to state. I agree. Re: Collingwood response re: Robbie Muir
Shaw and his idiot brother Ray are both dimwits.
Anyone who threatens legal action is full of s***.
I remember Tony Shaw being interviewed by On the Couch in 1998 or 1999 when he was Collingwood coach just before the halfway mark of the year. They were in the 8 and he said something like if we win the next few, it will be easy to make the 8 from there. He tried to correct himself but he had already put his foot in it and he sounded like a clumsy buffoon who got ahead of himself. After that point, they quickly fell out of the 8 and only won 1 or 2 games for the remainder of the year, which they had a habit of doing under his coaching.
Like I said, he's a buffoon and talks like one.

Re: Collingwood response re: Robbie Muir
Just another of the many reasons why Collingwood is the most hated club.
Ask a Collingwood supporter about it and they have no idea even the filth that frequented Vic Park back in the day will deny it saying all clubs were the same.
I went to all the grounds and never saw anything like what went on at Vic Park. Nothing changed at later venues.
They really are a $hit supporter base.

Re: Collingwood response re: Robbie Muir
I wouldn’t blame the Shaw brothers. I wouldn’t blame anyone. And Shaw is probably doing the only thing you can do, threaten legal action.
I don’t think Shaw is gonna be the most eloquent..and perhaps his only defense might be social prejudice itself. A working class white guy who didn’t finish school, over 50, grew up when getting beaten up in the lane after school was common enough to haunt the conscience of a kid 24/7.
If we go witch hunting for individuals here it is nit right either. It is the same gang mentality that allows racist taunting to flourish in the first place. It I know I am just pissing into the wind here. Because the lynching gangs are waiting. In the press, among us...
It’s so sad,,and has been for two hundred years, so sad, and stringing up people, I suppose, is just our way of expression and justice. Nobody minded Mussolini hanging up in the telephone pole.
Sorry. I’m sad.
Try to shut it.
Wish Robby well.

Re: Collingwood response re: Robbie Muir
100% agree. Geelong & their seriously entitled bunch of hick redneck supporters are the pits. Interestingly in the article on Rob's - apart from Shaw ... Geelong was the only other club that he singled out. And to be accurate - it wasn't just one Colingwood Ray Shaw but a whole group of Geelong players that were taunting him from the boundary on game day. I mean FFS - that's the game where Rob took his jumper off and held it up to the ar$ewipe Geelong players. The silence from Geelong over the past couple of days has been deafening. Fvcking despise Geelong and Rob's story has done nothing to remedy that.skeptic wrote: ↑Tue 25 Aug 2020 1:01pmAlways thought the Cat’s fans at Kardinia were something else too.The Fireman wrote: ↑Tue 25 Aug 2020 12:58pm Just another of the many reasons why Collingwood is the most hated club.
