Gears has to make way
As much as we love him and his undoubted courage and endeavour. ..he just has to make way
Every kick is either a turn over or a slow down defensive chip.
He is keeping out far more skilful players.
Personally would prefer Roberton in there, or even Savage or Phillips.
Very tough to keep picking the skipper when Gresham and Hannaberry are available.

16 possessions at 81% today, so maybe you would like to watch the replay and take us through all those turnovers
Re slow defensive chips, have you watched Geelong play out of the backline? No i thought not, anyway they play for the most part a possession game up to the wings so I am quitr happy for slow chips (which by the way only some are) if it keeps us with possession
Carry on

Re: Gears has to make way
He goes at 81% because he always takes the most conservative option and it costs us flow and penetration.
Just think he is now a depth player compared to some other younger options.

Here we go again
Happy as can be
All good friends
And jolly good company!
Gears good again today. Or was it the bloke who tracked down the conman Peter Foster?

He played on AhChee for the most part

He was OK, but when we needed a kick to advantage in the last two minutes, he couldn't deliver.

Re: Gears has to make way
If you read the post I'm not having a crack at him. Nothing disrespectful about Geary. Has been an integral part of this team.
But if you can't see a changing of the guard....
He was good when we were a bottom 4 team and needed courage and leadership.
As we push to top 8 plus, we have some good young skilful options to come jn.

Re: Gears has to make way
The question with Geary is Clark, Coffield, Long and Paton
Because they are the players Geary is competing with for a spot in this developing side
So who do you leave out for Geary?
There are spots or a spot for a “small forward” to support Butler and Gresham - but I do not view Geary as the answer to this equation
Simply you have to consistently “hit the scoreboard” as Butler does not just negate

Re: Gears has to make way
Has to remain for the remainder of 2020. I reckon he will retire after this year. Geary can be played anywhere and he is the leader of the side. We need his seniority and yes, a lot of the young guys will go past him next year.

Don’t know but ask Ben Paton given he played on him. Not Geary

Has been a warrior & given everything he has to offer & wasn't our worst today but IMO it's time to move on & he will go at the end of the year .

Re: Gears has to make way
Agreed and if he does it means we have a young kid who took that spot so we are moving forward tbh we simply have tobangaulegend wrote: ↑Sun 23 Aug 2020 10:52pm Has been a warrior & given everything he has to offer & wasn't our worst today but IMO it's time to move on & he will go at the end of the year .

I think he should play the season out & Paton or maybe Webster will be the guys to take on in his role next year.

Re: Gears has to make way
I’m hoping they’ve thought of that 5 games out from finals
We ain’t winning the gf this year so I’d just play Geary out on the proviso he’s done at years end or if he doesn’t retire he’s told next year he’s back up.....that’s it while a kid is given game time to take his spot

No you are off limits.
We are keeping you.
We need guys who can't be tackled effectively in our mid field.
The more you know, the more you know you don't know.

Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.
