Definitely the correct calls.
But Newnes has certainly looked better than in his last few seasons with us. I laughed when I saw Newnes take the kick and expected him to look super uncomfortable and indecisive before kicking it out on the full.

Oh my, here's a dilemma. We have coward punch v racism. It is very easy to be righteous about racism on the internet but the coward punch in a pub test, that's tricky.
Still it is good to see people copying others to call out different blights on society.

Re: JACK NEWNES!!!
The Coodabeens on the ABC have penned a new song , acknowledging Jack’s goal last weekend. The lyrics are written from the perspective of a Saints fan, and the tune is “Always On My Mind “ ( Elvis or Willie - whichever version you prefer ).
The line which substitutes for “You were always on my mind “ is “ Didn’t kick that straight for us” !
Very glad Jack has had his moment in the sun. During the week , Carlton supporters have chided me , saying I must be regretting us letting Jack go. Yeah right .

Re: JACK NEWNES!!!
I watched the game last night...
Got 20 odd possessions and ppl seemed pretty high on his performance
Had a set shot from about 40m out that didn’t score
In the first half kicked the ball into the forward 50 4 times, twice directly two opponents and twice to contests that favoured the opposition
Kicked a goal that fell in into his lap late
He is an excellent hand baller though
All in all, have no little concern that Carlton will progress with him in their top 22.
He’s a trier... and he’s certainly more disciplined than with us in terms of committing to the contest. Really bad skills though

You must have a different definition of 'rare'.
Career Stats:
St Kilda 55 goals 53 behinds
Carlton 9 goals 3 behinds

Ben just couldn’t get near it which wasn’t helped by GC’s complete inability to move the ball in a manner that was remotely coherent.
Don’t know what happened to them but they were dreadful

Check his setshot stats? I think you'll find they are a little more impressive. He's a really good shet shot and rarely missses.

I honestly didn’t watch many games through the Watters/Richo era being OS and bandwidth etc.,Secret Kiel wrote: ↑Sat 22 Aug 2020 3:18pmCheck his setshot stats? I think you'll find they are a little more impressive. He's a really good shet shot and rarely missses.
So what position did Newnes play under Richo? Was the a mid/forward?
Perhaps he should have been a permanent F30 specialist. Newnes Paddock: Get pushed off the ball, get free, setshot. Goal?

Scotty Watters played him as a full back and Richo wanted to have his babies so he was allowed to play wherever he liked.shanegrambeau wrote: ↑Sat 22 Aug 2020 4:02pmI honestly didn’t watch many games through the Watters/Richo era being OS and bandwidth etc.,Secret Kiel wrote: ↑Sat 22 Aug 2020 3:18pmCheck his setshot stats? Maybe just maybe it comes down to the kicking coach at the time

Re: JACK NEWNES!!!
Newnes asset at St Kilda was his endurance running ability.
When we had talented kids like Gresham, Billings , Acres and Dunstan, they were unable to run the full game. Newnes however was able to run from backline to forward line all game and create the extra body that's needed in modern football.
Whilst not having the same ball skills and talent as others, he was able to get to a lot more contests. That's probably why he was selected in so many consecutive games.
