Re: Worst kick ever at the Saints
Craig Devonport
MCG v Collingwood and Kenny nails him from over the fence to read the riot act, arms flailing and mouth going
Craig responded with a tough and telling tight goal and a very big night was had
There are some stories from that day!!

Re: Worst kick ever at the Saints
I once saw John Peter-Budge kick UNDER the man on the mark.
South Rd end, Moorabbin, mid '80s sometime.
Man on the mark jumped up to block the shot on goal, and J P-B grubbed it straight under him

Re: Worst kick ever at the Saints
Glen Coghlan must be in this conversation too.
A good contested mark, although not as good as Stewie, but who is.
Stewie also had him covered in the kicking department, but that is no claim to fame!
As far as Jack Daniels goes, he was an awesome handballer as he knew when to play to his strengths!

Frank Coghlan was a worse kick than Glen Coughlan. Geoff Cunningham rarely hit a target

I agree.
Absolutely horrible action. Though his short kicks normally found their targets.
Very good handballer.

Frankie Coghlan fed a few lace out to Lockett in the day. A much better field kick than shot for goal.

Re: Worst kick ever at the Saints
Yep, I was standing on the South Road wingish forward flank looking east, Frankie picked up a contested ball, found space and lining up with my eyeline to the Centre of goal perfectly. It was one of those rare situations at a footy game where you can see just what Frankie was seeing. He slotted it beautifully. I heard the leather of the footy kids the boot perfectly. So yes, isn’t it funny, some players kick nicely in play but in a set shot they fall apart.
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Jack Daniels was to kicking, what Jim Higgs was to batting.

Re: Worst kick ever at the Saints
He was just a couple of polished skills off being an absolute topliner. Was still a cut above the normal when he went back to Perth after being a very effective top up at the Bombers.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Sat 08 Aug 2020 8:53pmTrev from the Bush wrote: ↑Thu 06 Aug 2020 7:38pmClint was more an awkward kick, and an underrated player in my opinion.Peanut Farm wrote: ↑Thu 06 Aug 2020 4:11pm Wouldnt even get a game in the magoos these days - what a horrible kick.

Very good handballer.
If he didn't set the ground alight, there was always a dwarf! Really liked the guy.

JPB was an absolute freak junior and burbs footballer.
Shame he never made it beyond the fringe.
He used to jump over peoples heads at Beverly hills.
"Now the ball is loose, it gives St. Kilda a rough chance. Black. Good handpass. Voss. Schwarze now, the defender, can run and from a long way".....

Anyway, I loved Jack Daniels as a player. He was a very ordinary kick and he will admit it himself. Did get better over his career and I loved when we re-traded him back in. Made us a better side.
Want to watch the most boring and devious thing on television and probably in mankind's history, then tune into a daily live press conference at 11am.

Agree. He was a very effective player. His kicking style was very awkward - a la Clint Jones - but, like Jones, probably wasn’t as bad as it looked. The Fireman wrote: ↑Sat 08 Aug 2020 11:16pmJack was a great servant of the club and ripper bloke...respect.
