Re: Changes v Cats
I’d keep Long. He’s a long term player learning his craft. Need to give him continuity. Geary and Ross come in. Phillips likely out and who else if not Long? Tough call. If no-one is ‘managed’ then there’s no obvious out.

Re: Changes v Cats
He's right. We're 1 very good midfielder away from being a proper team. If Hanners was fit - I would be feeling very confident about our chances heading into October. I fear we're one soldier short (with a touch of class) in our rotations.
Massive shame Bytel didn't play any games last year to develop - bit hard for him to come in this year and have an impact - because, he'll be that player in time. He was an oft-touted top 10 pick (before his back injury in his top end year) for a reason.
Go you red, black & white warriors

Re: Changes v Cats
Think this will be the game to rest a few ,with the short turn around, cats arent strong in the ruck dept so can see Ryder out.Not too sure who else coaches feel need a break, but can see Geary,Parker,Savage,Lonie couple of others being in the mix

Why rest anyone?
Unless they pull up sore or lame.
Monday-Sunday-Sunday are our next batch.
Its not an outrageous schedule.

Re: Changes v Cats
Will be intetesting if King comes up - reckon he could do with a week off
Could barely rouse himself to sing the song
Happy to go with one ruck as well - I can see Marshall & Battle v Stanley & Blicavs
Battle to play FF with Marshall - resting Max & Paddy allows us to bring in a few more role players like Geary to tag Tuohy and Parker to keep Stewart honest
Happy for Sav to replace Phillips
Let's not kid ourselves .... changes will need to be made to protect some players

Savage was pretty stiff too.

Re: Changes v Cats
How so? I did not watch the game but checking their stats now I see they had TOG of 82 % and &77%
Were they played in positions where they had to run less and play bruise free footy? I note that neither had a tackle.
Serious question.

Re: Changes v Cats
Though this season he has not been stellar and stats wise this game was an only just below average for him.
No goals (he averages 0.9 per game this year). But with 7 inside 50's (His highest this season has been 3).

Long's other games have been good and so I would retain him.

Re: Changes v Cats
Bloody good thing he was on the pace in the last quarter, then! Selectors would have rocks in their heads to rest him for the Geelong game, his composure under extreme pressure will be needed if we are serious.fugazi wrote: ↑Fri 07 Aug 2020 2:34amHe was very good in the last, but not that great for 3 quarters.
The short breaks will have players reacting differently, I reckon the selectors just have to be realistic about rotations and be prepared to drop a game in order to rest a couple for the run home.
Clark looked off the pace for 3/4 s.....Ross or Savage can come in for him.

Re: Changes v Cats
I think it's time to rest King. He's still built like a baby giraffe and he's been getting smashed in packs every week. With the short turnaround I think we should give him this game off, especially since he would have Taylor, Henderson, Blicavs and Stewart crashing into him all day. Jones looks pretty banged up as well but we can't afford to lose a starting mid.
Intuitively you'd feel like the rucks could need a rest but consider that Marshall is spending a fair bit of time up forward, and Ryder only played 65% of a shortened game so they could be right to keep going. We've got a young team that has had a pretty good run with injuries and the shortened quarters must help with recovery, so I don't think we need to go crazy resting players. Carlisle is playing awesome footy but may need a rest at some stage.
My guess is
Out: King (rested), Phillips (omitted)
In: Geary, Ross
Uninspiring ins but I think this is what we'll see
B: Paton, Howard, Wilkie
HB: Clark, Carlisle, Coffield
C: Hill, Steele, Billings
HF: Geary, Marshall, Hind
F: Butler, Battle, Membrey
Foll: Ryder, Gresham, Jones
Int: Kent, Long, Ross, Sinclair

Re: Changes v Cats
I am still scratching my head on why people are trying to get Long out but keep Sinclair in. Used the ball poorly at 50% DE, for an outside player.
Then again Ross is a kick long in hope kind of a player.
So, the options are so limited

Re: Changes v Cats
We have these players available
Savage
Ross
Lonie
Geary
Roberton
Bytel
Byrnes
Clavarino
Austin
Mckenzie
Abbott
Parker
Langlands
Marsh
Joyce
Plenty of backline support. Geary can play as a tagger if needed, and Ross can give Jones a rest (who is prone to hamstring injury). Lonie and Parker can give some small forwards a rest. Abbott is the obvious choice to give Ryder a rest.
Pity Hannebery and Dunstan are injured. Our mids are at the greatest risk of injury, of course. Byrnes looked like he was nowhere near ready when he debuted. Bytel is the fascinating one. The question is, is this the ideal time for a player to debut?

Also, daily dips in the ocean followed by seafood platters with Moreton Bay bugs, Charcoal grilled lobster, Scallop ), oysters, and some steamed coral trout.
If they beat the Cats, the club gives them more of the same plus maybe happy endings for the single blokes...waddayareckon Yorkeys?
