Danger game
I just noticed that 100% of hun tipsters picked the saints to beat the crows.
That is usually the recipe for a loss going on recent and not so recent history.

Re: Danger game
It's a danger game for us because our miidfields have been notoriously poor since 2012.
Big game in the middle for us - and no excuses this time.

Re: Danger game
I'm reasonably confident most tipsters if not all, tipped St Kilda last week.
The only time we can seriously nominate a "Danger Game", is an intra club game because of injuries. All the other games are at least fifty fifty once you've supported St Kilda longer than one week.

Re: Danger game
Well if we lose this one it may be a season ending game for us. And just our luck that we get to play the Crows in Adelaide in front of a lot of their supporters.
Having said that, if we are not good enough to knock them off at present, then that probably is a good indication that we are not good enough in terms of being a genuine finals contender.
Harder still we will back 5 days later against the inform Power at the same venue. They have looked very good away from Adelaide. So it is extra important that we win against the Crows.

Re: Danger game
When was the last time we won interstate? I sense our recent record isn't great away from Victoria and until we lick this it is a sign of mental fragility like we showed last week.

We aren't even above the bottom four.
I dread to think.

Re: Danger game
We are not a finals contender. We are a developing side, looking to develop a winning style of play. Inconsistency is expected, effort is non negotiable. If we put in a full side effort, we will win. If we don't, we will have clearer indications of who moves forward and who gets left behind. The new band of leaders will appear in the next 11 weeks.

Re: Danger game
Faargn Nate faargn Fyfe wanted to get revenge on us for knocking the Dockers out of contention for the finals last year. Now he's redone the hamstring strain and will miss the derby and the next couple of weeks. We would have beaten those faarkers without their captain
I think all our metrics this year point to us easily defeating the Crows but the fact that we have to travel worries me again. It's not something that the younger Saints boys are used to.
We need an away win to prove that we don't just play well at Marvel. The Crows are bottom of the ladder for good reason. It's our best chance while Adelaide are out of form
Port will be a much tougher opponent and the fact that Port are in red hot form, means we must make sure we beat Adelaide

Re: Danger game
Will be the first and most likely last AFL game I will attend in 2020. To win the first game at Adelaide oval would obviously be sweet. Will be there with a face mask on but will scream my guts out!

Re: Danger game
As covered, our record in Adelaide and against the SA Clubs is very poor - reflecting that Sr Kilda has been very poor for a long time
The Club complete their 14 day quarantine required in Queensland on the day they fly to Adelaide (a prerequisite to get into SA) which means that after Monday, in Queensland they will have greater freedoms to move around in a limited society (Fremantle were already at that point having been in Queensland for 4 weeks versus our less than one week)
Did this play a part in a strange season?
The CEO has confirmed the essentials only will travel to Adelaide - that changes will be made with pressure on the experienced players who were found wanting last match
So who are the experienced players under review?
And, acclimatised to Queensland, can we maximise noting other teams are now also located in Queensland?

Re: Danger game
And just to add, the real problem last week was that after quarter time the game waa played exclusively in the Fremantle front half - so they had to eventually score
Why was the ball in only one half of the field?

Re: Danger game
Kane Cornes pointed out that Fyfe was done at halftime, and was basically rested at full forward in the second half. Cornes was right on the money.
They already had injuries, and to think they could stop our momentum, with Fyfe a cripple at FF, haul back our lead, and win the game like that is so shocking.
The only thing I am thinking about in our favor is our lack of acclimatization to QLD vs Freos relatively settled in vibe. But now, we start again in Adelaide, so any chance to build our own QLD chops is gone for the time being. By the time we get back and string some games together up there, what kind of state is our season gonna be in?
Then again...we could just come out and beat the pants off both Adelaide teams and in a fortnight be chilling in the top four in Noosa.

Everyone is blaming this and that for Our poor performance.
How do we explain the performance of the skunks ?

Round 13 last year, vs Gold Coast in Townsville.
Last interstate win vs a team other than Gold Coast, Round 15 2017, vs Fremantle.

Thanks for that. I see in today’s paper we are 0-7 away from Marvel Stadium since Round 16 last year.
Until we can start winning on the road we are flat track bullies and no threat to the good sides.

May be a danger game in more ways than one. 25,000 spectators at AO is pushing their luck. The decision makers over there may rue the day...

Re: Danger game
Here's a silver lining though (if we win)...
Every time St Kilda has defeated Adelaide in Adelaide, we have gone on to finish 5th or higher.
1991 - 5th
2004 - 3rd
2005 - 4th
2009 - 2nd
