The only problem is you need two sides to a trade - unless you’re dealing with a list manager who has no eyes ... there’ll be no interest in 6 & 7. As I’ve said a bazillion times before - they’re slow by mind and foot, one sided and poorly skilled. And 6 is supposed to be a leader. Ffs! Zero energy, nothing to arrest the slide. Be gone,

Drink more and it will all seem better. I'm very proud of the boys for turning up to tick off another game so the AFL can invoice for media rights money. They are doing the job that is required of them this year under very challenging circumstances. They were incredibly disadvantaged before the game started.

And.........speaking of trading players... I might have to revisit the Carlisle thread by Nick BlueNrG. As a leader of the backline I thought he was pathetic. Cost us multiple goals by not doing his job. Would have been better off playing someone who may have been hungrier and may have been able to defend

Don’t want to comment anymore on Ross except to say that I have been bagging him since 2018...We won’t be a contender unless we change the midfield mix. As far as today is concerned he was not alone. He is not to blame

Ross forward in place of Lonie - left footer and can mark. If we were not going to lose two suspended for the next game and be forced by logic to drop Marsh I'd expect that to have been Lonie's last game. It still may well be. As posted elsewhere Kent Lone and Marsh put in too few good games and too many stinkers. Ross is likely to be taken out of the middle though regardless unless there is a specific tagging job for him. Gets caught too often considering options and that hurts us. Time to give Clark a go as a mid?

I called Mc Kenzie early last year as no good, I called Dunstan a few years ago got smashed by the “ intel king” at the time who was lauded as some Demi god..I forgot his name... he is a quality poster no issues with him he was upset at my post at the time but I was proven right...
He said he was a future leader at the club I said he is nowhere near it...
We needed speed I mentioned that many times and so have many others...
We now need a quality A list let mid and some leadership...
Ross is neither.... he goes missing in tough games and he doesn’t hurt the opposition...
He isn’t tough or desperate enough to be a great inside mid and he isn’t quick or classy enough to hurt on the outside....
His hands are ok but not great...
He is a B grader I think he has some currency...
Trade he and Dunstan put next year...
Savage will go and Carlisle is borderline with his contract expiring and his back and big salary..

Guys like Ross are like Teflon, he gets away with substandard performances week in, week out.
This loss should put the acid on guys like him. Get rid of him and let Bytel learn the trade this year when 2020 isn't really a proper season.
This year is like a preseason comp, give younger guys a chance so they don't get jaded about seeing guys like Ross get a game when they don't deserve it

Before the R1 we were 1 A grade mid short that needed to be bought into the club. And then we needed someone on the list to also go to next level in the mid. We were lacking midfield depth then and we will still be lacking midfiled depth when the full strength comp starts again, whenever that is.

This years comp is only for a bit of slap and tickle and so I wouldn't be making too many harsh judgements on players this year.

Yes, this WAS a very bad loss, for sure, but I'd be surprised if it results in a massive shake-up of the team against Adelaide Monday week.

Let's face it, after 1/4 time you'd be hard pressed to find many good Saints players, Freo simply racked up the pressure and played bloody good football.

There's also these factors:

1. St Kilda had a very interrupted training schedule this week, being in lockdown quarantine at Noosa, unlike Freo who've been on the Gold Coast hub for a fair while. The long (over 2 hours) bus ride this morning wouldn't have helped either.

2. In essence, Metricom was Freo's home ground, having played the last 3 games there.

3. If Max King had converted his chances in front of goal St Kilda could have won the game, and he's hardly going to be dropped. These misses contributed to the loss of momentum, which can often be difficult to turn around.

On the matter of Seb Ross, I have previously expressed my misgivings about his value to this team, and his lack of speed once again caused a really expensive turnover. But he wasn't alone, it also happened to Jade Gresham in a crucial moment.

Changes next week (Long suspended, but reckon Marshall will get a fine, wasn't a hell of a lot in it...)
