So there is still a simple, law abiding, Victorian citizen out there? That's something anyway. Because there are certainly plenty who ain't. You can't regulate for stupidity and selfishness.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Fri 10 Jul 2020 9:27pm Does anyone really believe we are in this position because people went out to visit family, support local business and catch up with friends at pubs?
This has happened for reasons beyond the above. For decisions made from people above a simple, law abiding, Victorian citizen.

Re: Brisbane are tanking.
Sounds like there are a few ALP sycophants and acolytes on this thread.
Here are the key issues:
The Andrews’ Government treated the global pandemic and emergency management issue as an economic problem (jobs and tourism stimulus) and political opportunity by outsourcing it to private interests who had a track record of bad IR practices
Refusing ADF support (twice) for assistance and the only state to do so.
No public tender process and contacts for mates
No oversight on implementation of said contract from representatives in the Premier’s Office
Refusing to own it then blaming the public for being complacent
Deflecting any criticism by announcing an expensive public enquiry ”which will be dealt with in good time” etc.
Wrightly or wrongly, expecting civilians to do the right thing over two weeks spent in quarantine is outright naive. The only organisation who were ever capable of containing this situation was the military.
It's a total f*** up and negligence of the highest order.
It's now doubled down and scaring the s*** out of everyone to deflect from it's negligence.
The cover-up is always worse than the crime.
Incompetence so, so extreme can only be dealt with by counting it as pure fraud.

I don't do partisan politics.
I'm interested in accountable and responsible government regardless of who’s in power.
I guess that makes me an agitator of sorts.

wasn't an insult but I think you've answered the question. Re: Brisbane are tanking.
No it wasn't. It was a just smart arse hyperbole in response to someone bringing up the Scott Morrison government as some type of defence to the botched quarantine job. We can talk about the blue party as well but it's totally irrelevant here and a red herring and we'd just be going around in circles. The Fireman wrote: ↑Sat 11 Jul 2020 11:15amwasn't an insult but I think you've answered the question. I'm talking about the management of a very specific issue.
Like I said, you of all people should know that rightly or wrongly, civilians were never going to be trusted to do the correct thing over the course of a few weeks and the only organisation who were going to manage and contain this was going to be the military who are trained to handle these matters. Victoria was the only state that refused ADF support to manage and contain this problem.
Once you ask why and begin to scratch below the surface, everything begins to fall into place.
From personal experience, it's very typical of this particular government and people don't know the half of it. If they did, there would be a revolution.

Re: Brisbane are tanking.
From todays the age.com.au
"If the stories are true some of these guards thought social distancing was a sexual position from the Kama Sutra.
Rather than enforcing a strict 14-day lockdown it appears guards' training consisted of watching reruns of Hogan’s Heroes.
One young Pan Pacific Hotel quarantine guest, resplendent in bike shorts, took advantage of a sunny winter’s day to escape and take selfies performing a series of impressive handstands at South Wharf.
If there was a Coronavirus Olympics she would carry the flag.
Others believed the quarantine stretched to riverside coffees shops with lattes constituting emergency supplies.
These (and other) breaches were reported to a senior government official who did nothing. Only after the spike was the system reviewed."
So don't try and tell me that the Government wasn't f****** responsible.
Those clowns lead by Comrade Dan have put our lives at tisk.

Strange year for tanking.
The draft will be a bit more of a lottery, because the recruiters won't of had the same opportunities to assess the talent.
Might as well try to win the bloody thing.
