Zak Jones
Absolutely love this kid. Nothing against Hill but this guy is the recruit of the year.
Fast, hard at it, play maker even if his disposal is a little iffy at times. Thought he was amongst our best in rd1 and one of our better players tonight albeit MOM honours go to Billings at this stage.
Feel like this is the type of player we’ve missed for so many years... a take the play on and make it happen type.

Re: Zak Jones
I think you got to be careful when looking at his disposal because he does a lot of the under pressure, taking the play on, move the ball fast type of disposals.
He strikes me as the type of player whose DE will never be as high as some because he backs himself to do some of the harder things which often don’t come off.
He stands out to me because in years past, instead of squaring up under pressure, many of our players were taught to go sideways, backwards, pass back and forth and not be as adventurous

Re: Zak Jones
Yeah but there are ‘effect kicks’ and ‘effect kicks’, if you know what I mean.
Not saying I don’t like him, just that he butchered a few straight forward ones, tho was better in the second half.

Re: Zak Jones
How many times would Ross, Dunstan etc get it, stop and prop and go side ways or bomb it long over the last few seasons. I love his straight ahead approach and you can see his enthusiasm is infectious among the group.skeptic wrote: ↑Sun 14 Jun 2020 9:58pmI think you got to be careful when looking at his disposal because he does a lot of the under pressure, taking the play on, move the ball fast type of disposals.

Just imagine when Jones teaches Billings to play tough.
The more you know, the more you know you don't know.

Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

That's the direction he and the ball are going.

Jack just needs to play smart and make the most of his opportunities. That will hurt the opposition the most.

Plus JB kept his eyes on the footy, didn't duck his head, went back with the flight and took a strong contested mark.
His skills were sublime. BOG for mine
No doubt he enjoys playing the Doggies and I'd say he stuck it up the Bont and stuck it up the critics

Re: Zak Jones
I was really impressed with Billings too. He played a mentally tough game - something I've been critical of with him. In all the areas of his game where he had to improve, he showed improvement.
I'm really impressed with how even the contribution was. Billings also did his part and didn't try to be anything more or less than that.

Re: Zak Jones
Jones epitomises what Brett Ratten wants from his midfielders - aggression, blinding speed, run into space and deliver the ball to leading forwards.
Zak is the sort of hard nut player St Kilda have lacked for years, when he attacks the ball opponents get run over - he's a smaller version of Big Bad Barry and will run through a brick wall for the team, which commands respect from team mates and opponents alike.
He's a Beauty!!
