Yep, I'm not surprised you have brought this up - could not believe it at the time an ump paying in the back to us at such a vital time.
Many have gone against us and I'm such a skeptic and think this does not happen to us...but it did once...well done JB, proves not all umps were against us

Re: 2010 Qualifying final V Geelong - cheating umpires
One of my most favourite games ever! People quickly forget that we were not expected to win that game. Milney played one of his best games for the club imo. Roo was absolutely back to his best after an injury riddled year, and Lenny’s bump against chappy in the first half set the tone. Winning a final unexpectedly. Is there anything better? Right up thete with the 05 Qualifying final against Crows in Adelaide

Like the deliberate out of bounds free against Gilbo and the Hawkins mark that wasn’t paid?kosifantutti wrote: ↑Fri 01 May 2020 10:55pm Not sure what the point of the thread is.

Re: 2010 Qualifying final V Geelong - cheating umpires
IMO we got smacked by the umpires for a couple of seasons under GTs coaching culminating in “Whispers in the sky” and I believe GTs big mouth contributed greatly to the lopsided decisions in that period.Freebird wrote: ↑Fri 01 May 2020 10:01pmYep, I'm not surprised you have brought this up - could not believe it at the time an ump paying in the back to us at such a vital time.

In 09 - 10 I thought we had a great run and the stats show this. We were a top team, hard disciplined and fair and were rewarded accordingly.
The crap that is written on this site about us continually being on the wrong end or umpires cheating against us is juvenile and ridiculous.

The Hawkins mark was paid. He played on, was tackled and dropped the ball. From the throw in Johnson was in the clear because he pushed Baker in the back.Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Sat 02 May 2020 10:22amLike the deliberate out of bounds free against Gilbo and the Hawkins mark that wasn’t paid?kosifantutti wrote: ↑Fri 01 May 2020 10:55pm Not sure what the point of the thread is.

They could have paid deliberate against Gilbert. They would have had a shot from the boundary rather than the free they paid to Johnson 5 seconds later when he ducked his head into a tackle.

It’s almost as if, as crazy as it sounds, umpires just call the game as they see it and will inevitably make mistakes, like everybody else on Earth, and sometimes those mistakes go with you, and sometimes against.
Supporters who constantly whinge about officials and blame others are the worst kind, and just show a low sport IQ, with absolutely no objectivity but buckets of hypocrisy.

Re: 2010 Qualifying final V Geelong - cheating umpires
Johnson was damned lucky that the umpire knew it was 2010 when he paid that free and not 2014 when the ducking/ driving your head contact rule was initiated.kosifantutti wrote: ↑Sat 02 May 2020 11:41amJoffa Burns wrote: ↑Sat 02 May 2020 10:22amLike the deliberate out of bounds free against Gilbo and the Hawkins mark that wasn’t paid?kosifantutti wrote: ↑Fri 01 May 2020 10:55pm Not sure what the point of the thread is.

If you really want to see cheating umpires watch how they look after Kevin Bartlett.
When he's about to be tackled he bouncers the ball and the umpires give him a free every time for holding the man.

Gilbert a foot from the boundary never changed the dirt of the ball no free. Hawkins push’s in the back then plays on.Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Sat 02 May 2020 10:22amLike the deliberate out of bounds free against Gilbo and the Hawkins mark that wasn’t paid?kosifantutti wrote: ↑Fri 01 May 2020 10:55pm Not sure what the point of the thread is.

The push in the back shouldnt have been paid to Gwilt. Should have been play on although at the time I reckon the free was warranted. Technical decision especially on a wet night.

they'd been hot on that in the back rule all year. gotta see things in the proper context, and that was a push in the back every day of the week back then. that's whats so frustrating, the afl and the umps get hot on a particular interpretation, and then drift away from it.

The ball came off Stokes foot. Jones should have been paid a holding free, the free to Hawkins was a joke and he definitely tried to handpass in that other incident. One time the maggots got it right.

Yep, they blatantly cheat against us the whole game, until the last minute where they pay us a free that wins us the game.saynta wrote: ↑Sun 03 May 2020 6:51pmWatching that clip only re-enforces my view that maggots are f****** cheats.kosifantutti wrote: ↑Sun 03 May 2020 1:44pmActually, it looks like Gilbert knocked it into Stokes’ foot.CURLY wrote: ↑Sat 02 May 2020 4:09pmGilbert a foot from the boundary never changed the dirt of the ball no free. So by missing so many frees our way all as clear as day is fine. Then paying one that was a free to give us the win we should have been three goals up.The_Dud wrote: ↑Sun 03 May 2020 7:47pmYep, they blatantly cheat against us the whole game, until the last minute where they pay us a free that wins us the game.saynta wrote: ↑Sun 03 May 2020 6:51pmWatching that clip only re-enforces my view that maggots are f****** cheats.kosifantutti wrote: ↑Sun 03 May 2020 1:44pmActually, it looks like Gilbert knocked it into Stokes’ foot.CURLY wrote: ↑Sat 02 May 2020 4:09pmGilbert a foot from the boundary never changed the dirt of the ball no free.
