Re: Who was better?
At his best Goddard was capable of the game changing and sublime so I'll pick him over Dal the skillful workhorse.
This was my father's belief
And this is also mine:
Let the corn be all one sheaf--
And the grapes be all one vine,
Ere our children's teeth are set on edge
By bitter bread and wine.

Re: Who was better?
Frawley over Buckets?
That one shocks me, would be interested to know why?
I'd have Buckets over Frawley 100 out of 100 picks, and I'm not bagging Spud either he was a fine player, I just don't think he was in Loewes class.

I looked at it this way, if Buckets had to play on Spud, who would I back to take the honours?Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Fri 24 Apr 2020 2:52pmFrawley over Buckets?

I’m inclined to agree. Further to that, IMO you should always take a good forward ahead of a good defenderJoffa Burns wrote: ↑Fri 24 Apr 2020 2:52pmFrawley over Buckets?

Re: Who was better?
Max Walker - Gary Gilmour
Bernard Julian - Keith Boyce
Aussie Jones - Joel Smith
When these pros have a similar profile it intrigues me that we rush to dwell on who is better, so we get our orders in order..ha..

Re: Who was better?
Didn't Plugger get reported for striking Wittey in an intraclub practise game?

Re: Who was better?
Burns easy surprises me . Cunningham played for Vic 8 times, Burns never did but won 2 B &F'. Could go either way but would never thought easily?

I saw just about every game they both played and for me Burns was a far more effective player. I always thought Cunningham was overrated by many. He had poor disposal and wasted the ball frequently. Maybe Burns wasn't selected for Victoria because there were so many other top players playing in the centre during his time. I am surprised Cunningham was selected so many times but the competition for wing spots was less fierce.

Re: Who was better?
I kinda assumed or thought Frankie Coghlan was a like-for-like replacement for Joffa Cuningham. Both wiifull, courageous and energetic, both knowing they were no Nicky W, but skillful and give it all enough to make a great contribution.StPeter wrote: ↑Sun 26 Apr 2020 2:32amolder saint wrote: ↑Sat 25 Apr 2020 8:46pmBurns easy surprises me . Frankie Coghlan was a very useful player and possibly underrated.
