VFL Cancelled

Post: # 1842312Post Bernard Shakey »

Richmond withdrew their VFL team and effectively shut down the comp!

Other sports have been postponed or cancelled around the world the AFL as a professional organisation should do the same.

How can you run an AFL comp without the supporting VFL comp to
- develop young players,
- keep fringe players in form and match fit
- manage players returning from injury or form loss
???

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

I started a thread regarding the sponsorship dollars from betting that the AFL receives.

I'd reckon that there'd only be a fraction of money bet on the lower grades

I'm starting to think that perhaps the betting industry have a lot more to lose if the season is cancelled

Hawthorn- the family club- have taken their players out of the Box Hill program.

But closer to the Saints:
The SFC Board have had to make the unfortunate decision to stand down all employees of the SFC effective from Friday 3rd April, until such time as we are notified that the competitions are to resume. We would like to make it very clear that we have not terminated any staff and will be ready to resume as soon as the AFL notify us.

We would like to thank our CEO, David Cannizzo, and all the staff for their understanding in these unprecedented times and would like to assure you all that the SFC Board has been forced to make this change in the interests of the long term future of the Club.

As soon as there is confirmation that the mighty Zebras can take the field again, we have great optimism on the success that will follow for the Club on and off the field.
