Anyway, not sure Luke Ball was the difference between the two teams.
13 possessions is hardly a noteworthy game.
He had 15 kicks 10 handpasses and 7 marks.

The best way to describe him is ambidextrous.
He can kick equally well with both feet.
A unique talent.

Good analogy, didn’t realise the value profile of a house is the same as a football player.
We should keep Hill on the list for 30 years.

So you’re saying Hill isn’t worth it? And not worth being the best paid player on the list?

Your statement was that he improved significantly under Lyon.
I don't think I agree with that. But you used his market price as evidence that he had improved. I don't agree with that premise either.

I just don't see any evidence to suggest that he improved significantly under Lyon.

Have yo agree with you there. He was already a premiership player when he shipped out West and anyway I can't readily think of any player who improved under that lying tosser. There maybe one, but I can't put a name to him.BarryGrogan wrote: ↑Tue 25 Feb 2020 7:03pmI just don't see any evidence to suggest that he improved significantly under Lyon.

Re: Saints v Hawks Marsh Cup Match Thread 2020
So maybe only one player improved under Lyon? Yet we played in multiple finals and 3 GFs and won 20 games straight in H & A in 2009. With all the players just treading water? What a coach! Give Ratts a year, then get him back!saynta wrote: ↑Tue 25 Feb 2020 10:10pmHave yo agree with you there. As far as I can see - I've simply disagreed with your statement that Hill improved significantly under Lyon.
I stated why I disagreed with it:

Re: Saints v Hawks Marsh Cup Match Thread 2020
Hill definitely improved at Freo. Any Hawk fan will tell you that. He was a good player at the hawks. Now he's a great player. Stevie Milne definitely became a better more consistent player under Lyon. I would argue that Riewoldt became a more rounded player under Lyon. Suddenly he was laying great tackles and chasing. Sam Fisher definitely improved under Lyon as did Gwilt as did Gilbert as did heaps of Saints players. You can hate Lyon as much as you like, but he has taken two clubs who haven't played in GF's ever or rarely to GF's. He could coach.saynta wrote: ↑Tue 25 Feb 2020 10:10pmHave yo agree with you there. Luke Ball's game in the 2010 drawn GF was very average. IN the replayed GF when everyone played well he was very good. His game in the 09 GF is one of the most overated games I have seen. He was serviceable in conditions tailor made for him and yet ppl carry on like he dominated the whole game. Problem was we never got any run and carry from him and his kicking was Tony Shaw like by the end of his time with us. No one doubted his courage and will for the contest.

Re: Saints v Hawks Marsh Cup Match Thread 2020
Having been away I have just watched the replay and ask any chance we can get back on track- I could start a new thread perhaps but as it is pertinent to the topic- why has Coffield not had a mention. Yes- he did on occasion take on a little too much but in the main he was good- vision, positioning, disposal all improving. A work in progress but "pleasing"
the invisible and the non existent look very much alike
