Only bit of that article I didn’t like was Hamill describing Long as “really strong”.

Really hate that word.
It didnt work for Richo to well.
Maybe its another way of saying "WTF I'm not too sure"

I think Long could be that creative playmaker off half-back we have been lacking for years.

Simon Goodwin used it a bit last year. He actually said after a loss that "we'll review the game strongly".
Seriously! WTF does that even mean!!??
Frankly, using the word 'strong', shows a legitimately lacking vocabulary.

Review strongly.. what a stupid thing to say.
It certainly shows a distinct lack of imagination, creativity or individuality. *See Richo*
These AFL catch phrases are understandable for players but once the coaches start using them constantly instead of just talking normally *see Richo, Bolton* you know they're not going to cut it.

Re: Ben's move into the backline shows promise
It's really interesting they are trialing Long down back.
We appear top have a plethora of small - medium defenders and small - medium forwards so sending one back is interesting, a bit like they did with Battle last year.
Was Long likely to struggle to get a run forward with Billings, Gresham certain starters and likely to be forward more than mid/ wing with the inclusion of Hill & Jones and the competition between Lonie, Butler, Parker, Kent, Hind et al for the remaining small spots forward.
Given Longs bag of tricks you'd like him in the team and down back he competes with Savage, Geary, Paton, Webster, Clark as a smaller rebounding defender.
He's probably higher on that list than he is against the forwards and the natural replacement for Geary & Savage as the get older.
Given I think Geary may not be match fit round 1, I'm going with the below.
Savage Howard Roberton
Clark Carslile Long
Hill Hannebery Jones
Billings Battle Gresham
Lonie King Membrey
Marshall Steele Ross
Butler Ryder Wilkie Coffiled/ Sinclair

At the end of the day we'll just take it one week at a time and review the footage strongly to see what was pleasing and what we will work on strongly throughout the week.

There is something about Long I like and I get the feeling he will have a breakout season no matter where he plays.

The great thing is that Goody now has Cho beside him all year to school him in all of the dribble sayings that used to drive Saints fans completely bonkers. Personally - I hated the use of the word "incredibly" - as in, Seb was incredibly strong in the contest today"BarryGrogan wrote: ↑Sun 16 Feb 2020 9:27am Simon Goodwin used it a bit last year. Love the avatar by the way, I'm guessing Andrew Bolt would also be a fan of it.
