I agree
Junction Oval may be our 'Birthplace' but Moorabbin was the place of our Rebellious Teenage Years - and aren't those the ones we remember most fondly!

Moorabbin is a gritty place...St Kilda is healthy and wholesome.

Re: Moorabbin's in our blood not the f****** JO.
Welcome back Firey! I finished my month-long enforced hospital stint down there last week. Pleased to report (and confirmed daily by Mrs Trev) that the sound of cracking willlow dominated all parks and ovals in the area. Most impressed with the redeveloped JO, it is now the perfect permanent home for cricket. Anybody who thinks otherwise is on much stronger drugs that I had been prescribed. That is nigh on impossible if you are still alive.
It will never happen.

Moorabbin's in our blood not the f****** JO.
Welcome back Firey!
Trev, sincerely hope you are doing well now.
Go Saints! My teenage and almost teenage boys are very excited about going to Moorabbin tomorrow. One of them is having a birthday and I thought he might choose to do something else.
No way.
It’s in our blood ...

Re: Moorabbin's in our blood not the f****** JO.
There is no doubt in my mind, that footy will HAVE to be played at the JO. Those who resist, represent a tiny % of the general population. The cricket aristoocracy is powerful. It's a small sample of the population. Footy is a "bogan" sport. People love that. Cricket is not. They stand in positions.

Football has all but taken over the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Cricket Victoria has the Junction Oval as it's permanent home. StKilda Football Club moved out of there over 55 years ago.
Swallow those facts and move on.

And I would think, the majority of current forum members never saw a ball kicked in anger by anyone wearing red, white and blackat the JO.\Trev from the Bush wrote: ↑Sun 09 Feb 2020 12:47am Football has all but taken over the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Cricket Victoria has the Junction Oval as it's permanent home. I went there ever second week and it was a dump. controlled and owned by the cricket club who even had their own stand and membership admitting to saints games.
My dad had one at one stage.I can still picture it on his key ring. Never a penny of that money went to the saints who were merely unwanted paying tenants.
So get over it ffs.

Re: Moorabbin's in our blood not the f****** JO.
Went to Saints games at JO a few times as a very young chappie with my dad- can't remember much about it..seemed a bit like a big country footy ground to me. A pity many years of the Saints at Moorabbin were unsuccessful and it was miserable watching us get flogged all too regularly, but at least I went to the last game there in the early '90s. I thought VFL park was better in the years we were there- though it always seemed to be a bloody cold place. I must go down to Moorabbin and have a look at what RSEA park looks like now.

Moorabbin disintegrated into a urine soaked dump, everything failing apart and well past its prime - I would wager the only ones remembering the ground fondly are those that frequented the social club.
Which probably sums us a club very clearly - we were and have always been the party club. I remember clearly the social arm of the Stkilda FC was the only financial positive for the 80s & 90s

Re: Moorabbin's in our blood not the f****** JO.
For St Kilda to be truely relevant they should be based in St Kilda - it’s not rocket science to work that out
Having said that I have seen them play more at Moorabbin than any other ground and it’s clearly a massive step in the right direction to be back there - Seaford was obviously a very bad decision from the moment the decision was made - no hindsight needed for that one

Re: Moorabbin's in our blood not the f****** JO.
I think Hawthorn is pretty relevant being based in Mulgrave
I think Moorabbin is a fantastic midpoint for all of the Southern Saints!
Moorabbin is where I cut my teeth and it holds fantastically bittersweet memories. Donuts - Autographs - the SOS blanket - the Animal Enclosure - The Mud - the grannies with their handbags!
LOL - I miss Moorabbin - that place rocked (on the odd occasion that we won)

When the club was broke. We were selling players to keep up payments on grandstands! No other club invested in their ground to the extent we did.sunsaint wrote: ↑Sun 09 Feb 2020 7:28pmso you also cant remember how run down moorabbin wasStephen Theodore wrote: ↑Sun 09 Feb 2020 7:14pm
