Re: Team of the decade 2010-2019
We’ll get to see this year!
Why??
The addition of Bruce (and Keath) is the reason the Dogs are contenders.
Did you notice how we went in 2016/17/19 with Bruce
And 2018 without him (4 wins)
Structurally I think Bruce was one of our most important players
Your #1 key forward and defender are structural players.

Re: Team of the decade 2010-2019
Is 2020 the beginning of a new decade, or the end of the last one? This question pops up every 10 years and the answer can largely depend on what year-numbering system you subscribe to. It's assumed if you have these types of debates you can count and also take the position 2010 is not included in this decade and therefore impacting the debate in this thread.kosifantutti wrote: ↑Mon 30 Dec 2019 5:38pmOnly if you can’t count.Secret Kiel wrote:Are we including the year 2010? if we are doesn't that mean this debate is a year early?

Re: Team of the decade 2010-2019
I assumed your reference to “debate” was the debate about who’s in the team of the decade. And if you start the decade in 2010, then 2019 is the tenth year.Secret Kiel wrote:Is 2020 the beginning of a new decade, or the end of the last one? Although some posters think that you have to look at Footscray in 2020 to work out who should be in the best Saints team of 2010-2019.

Re: Team of the decade 2010-2019
did the two-hundred-and-second decade of the Common Era begin on January 1, 2011?, if that is true then we can't include 2010. as i say it depends which year-numbering system you use and for some that impacts the players and coach that can be included in the decade debate....I don't really know much about it but I think the year-numbering system that is being taught in Australian schools since 2011 is in accordance with the ISO standard.kosifantutti wrote: ↑Mon 30 Dec 2019 7:12pmI assumed your reference to “debate” was the debate about who’s in the team of the decade. Re: Team of the decade 2010-2019
I understand that there are different opinions on when the decade starts but your statement “Are we including the year 2010? if we are doesn't that mean this debate is a year early?” implied that you were accepting 2010 as the start of the decade and wanting to include 2020 as well.
Apologies if I’ve misinterpreted.

Re: Team of the decade 2010-2019
Seriously who gives a rats arse?!
It’s a period time... the op says 2010-19 (the teens)
A decade is ten years
My team of the decade for Cricket was 2005-2014
Why be pedantic and argue semantics?
Just roll with the topic!

Re: Team of the decade 2010-2019
ahhh ok, now I see how I've confused, I meant that the decade starts in 2011 and finishes in 2021 thus excluding 2010 and any good player and coach stats from that year.kosifantutti wrote: ↑Mon 30 Dec 2019 7:58pm I understand that there are different opinions on when the decade starts but your statement “Are we including the year 2010? if we are doesn't that mean this debate is a year early?” implied that you were accepting 2010 as the start of the decade and wanting to include 2020 as well.

Pretty hard to argue that line up, perhaps Billings over Gresham?bozza1980 wrote: ↑Tue 31 Dec 2019 12:54pm I don't mind this team

Re: Team of the decade 2010-2019
The 2010 Preliminary Final winning team is the best side we have fielded this decade.
Not individuals, TEAM.
Remember that night we won that prelim so comfortably that Lyon was able to finish the game in the last quarter with only 17 men on the field.

Re: Team of the decade 2010-2019
Billings gets unfairly scrutinised
His numbers are outstanding, maybe his goal kicking and not wanting to seize the moment enough are the things that stop him from being elite.
Clearly ahead of Savage this decade.
He gets judged on what we want from him, as opposed to what we get from him.
