Team of the decade 2010-2019
End of a decade is here and what started brilliantly dropped like an anchor and hopefully is ascending back to the surface as we enter the 20's
Criteria I have used is based around the following:
- games played
- performance during this time
May mean a player who was a star in the 2000's and finished at the early 2010's may miss out to a player who isn't as good overall career but better during that time. Anyway here's my guess
B: Geary, Brown , Dempster
HB: Montagna, Fisher, Gilbert
C: Newness, Ross, Dal Santo
HF: Ray, Roo, Billings
F: Milne, Bruce, Membrey
Foll: McEvoy, Armitage, Steven
Int: Savage, Gresham, Webster, Roberton,
Emerg: Schneider, Hickey, Dunstan
Went McEvoy over Hickey as although played less years was not much different with games and performed better iMO. Longer no and Marshall not long enough.
Brown and Carlisle were line ball and could go either way.
Easy to see where things dropped away and the poor recruiting from 2009 - 2014 . Newness and Steven both gone and Webster and Roberton only players recruited in that time still on an AFL list.

Re: Team of the decade 2010-2019
Great discussion but you did not say how many games were your criteria
For instance you have Dal (92 games) but not Lenny (93)
I would think 88 games (or 4 seasons) could be a starting point
Interestingly Farren Ray (105) and Clint Jones (99) could be considered but Milne (87)
BTW don't take my totals as gospel as they were done in my head whilst eating a sandwich

Re: Team of the decade 2010-2019
interesting
We had a GF side in 2010, but a lot of them played only a couple of seasons?
I’d start by having the 2010/11 side and replacing the bottom few players with
Armo, Steven, Bruce, Geary, Membrey
Would Billings and Gresham get a look in
Marshall after 1 good season vs Gardiner or McEvoy?
Roberton has 2 very good seasons, Gram?
Brown vs Dawson
Definite ins
Hayes, Riewoldt, Montagna, Dal Santo, Goddard, Dempster, Fisher, Milne, Geary, Steven, Membrey, Ross.
Maybe
Armo, Schneider, Billings, Bruce, Gresham, Gilbert, Steele, Gardiner, Marshall, Scnieder, Jones, Blake
Possibly
Brown, Dawson, Roberton, Ray, Newnes, Kosi, Gwilt, Gram

Absolutely. Despite starting with so many very good players in 2010 the quantity of players to consider is pretty underwhelming.

Re: Team of the decade 2010-2019
Compare this decade to the 80s or anytime before the 60s
We had 2 good years, 4 ok years and 4 poor years.
Remember we shipped off
Goddard, Dal Santo, McEvoy, Lynch
4 leaders, and top end talent.
Great plan by Pelchen, as was down grading picks for multiple picks.
Also, we lost
Kosi, Gardiner, Baker, Blake early in the decade and
Hayes, Milne, Fisher, Jones not long after that

Those 58 games included a big 2010 Finals series. He was also very adept in the Ruck, not to mention more consistent than Bruce. For me even in his twilight he was better than Bruce.terry smith rules wrote: ↑Mon 30 Dec 2019 1:39pmKosi only 58 games in the decade, surely Bruce insteadLinton Lodger wrote: ↑Mon 30 Dec 2019 1:23pm B: Geary Brown Dempster

Re: Team of the decade 2010-2019
Bruce vs Kosi (after 2009) is a no contest for mine.
Kosi was a GOP at best in his final years.
Bruce bagged 50 in a season and was a more dangerous Key fwd
Fitter, stronger, and faster
After moving forward in 2015
Bruce
89 Games
164 goals (1.8gpg)
held goalless 12 times (13%)
121 Hit Outs (1.4pg)
Kosi post 2009
58 games
76 goals (1.3gpg)
Goalless 14 times (24%)
262 Hit Outs (4.5pg)

Ross Lyon - Coach
Chris Pelchen list manager
Because with him at the helm we got a lot of high DPS because he f***ed the list!

Are we including the year 2010? if we are doesn't that mean this debate is a year early?

I like poached chicken breast with avocado on rye with cracked pepper and no butter as my go to.
I also like a toasted sandwich on sour dough and make a peppered eye fillet medium which I thinly slice in layers on the toast and add salad onion, vine tomato, cos lettuce, hand sliced tasty cheese and add a condiment I mix which includes mayo, bbq sauce and horseradish. Its delicious and spicy.

But I had cold lamb (slow cooked shoulder from yesterday) and mint jelly
Nothing much better than cold lamb

He set our lead up in the Qual Final against Geelong. He dominated at full forward and set the win up. Then in the first GF when Gardiner went down, he went into the Ruck, took control and was the catalyst for us getting back in the game.terry smith rules wrote: ↑Mon 30 Dec 2019 3:34pm2010 final series played 4 games for 38 disposals (total) and 5 goals (total) 18 marks and 17 hitouts, love to know your definition of bigLinton Lodger wrote: ↑Mon 30 Dec 2019 3:22pmThose 58 games included a big 2010 Finals series. Bruce has never played Finals and I query how well he'll go if he gets that opportunity.
