Re: Slater takes tackling.
Thanks Saynta
Tackling is an area where I thought throughout last season we started to drop off a bit over the year.
At times it seemed as though many of our tackles didn't stick and were too easily brushed aside by opponents.
I felt at times our players were not tackling with enough intensity - but how much of this is due to player effort versus technique?
It is an area where when we have been on top in a game, we win.
What do others think?

Re: Slater takes tackling.
Like anything in life, there's 3 aspects to it:
1) Intent
2) Situational Awareness
3) Technique
The last one is the easiest to teach. The first 2 are the most important.

Re: Slater takes tackling.
To elaborate, having the technique is cool. Knowing when to apply it is the hardest part to teach. Arguably, you can't teach it. It's realistically something people teach themselves through experience.
And when you do apply it, doing it like it's the last time you'll ever do it is also something that is generally innate.

Situational awareness then is by far the most important of the 3 - the little buggers sense everything! Cats are evil. The Fireman wrote: ↑Thu 21 Nov 2019 9:56pmthanks baz... I may now just attack the cat.BarryGrogan wrote: ↑Thu 21 Nov 2019 9:47pm Like anything in life, there's 3 aspects to it:

Re: Slater takes tackling.
tackling harder for longer improves with age profiles and we have been short over the past 2 seasons due to being physically immature.
