Re: Expectations for the new decade
I love it when the flat earthers had a conference last year and declared it was the biggest flat earth conference on the globe

Re: Expectations for the new decade
I just wondered if the world's shape is dependent on the shape of the universe, like relative to it, so I wiki -ed, shape if the universe and my brain literally vaporised after trying to read the first paragraph.
I think the AFL ladder is spherically shaped, and luckily perhaps for us, we never fall out the bottom like EPL .
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

If it is a merry go round we would come back to the top periodically, clearly it's not a mouse wheel.shanegrambeau wrote: ↑Tue 05 Nov 2019 11:32amI just wondered if the world's shape is dependent on the shape of the universe, like relative to it, so I wiki -ed, shape if the universe and my brain literally vaporised after trying to read the first paragraph.

I sometimes wonder if it is three wheels now, with the bottom six rotating.although probably not true either.

Re: Expectations for the new decade
Certainly does.
If you had a trivia question that asked; Who won the first premiership in the decade of the '80's the answer is...ask Kevin Bartlett
Same if you ask in which decade did Collingwood win a flag before 2010. The answer isn't the 50's.

Re: Expectations for the new decade
It has been said by the sages that there exist as many parallel universes as there are AFL football teams.shanegrambeau wrote: ↑Tue 05 Nov 2019 11:32amI just wondered if the world's shape is dependent on the shape of the universe, like relative to it, so I wiki -ed, shape if the universe and my brain literally vaporised after trying to read the first paragraph.
I think the AFL ladder is spherically shaped, and luckily perhaps for us, we never fall out the bottom like EPL .
Consequently, many ladder/premiership outcomes are possible, and in fact, do happen, and all at the same time too.
Unfortunately for St Kilda and us, we have almost always inhabited, in the subatomic flatulence of particles, waves and strings, relative to our collective consciousness, the wrong parallel footy universe.
Now somebody mathematically talented could work out how many combos of ladders that actually exist at each moment.
I got a D for maths in HSC, so I'll skip on that and just stick to the deep thinking.

Re: Expectations for the new decade
When Pol Pot came to power he declared it was Year 0.
I think we should do the same with Lethlean.
We are starting Year 3 and, like John F Kennedy, I propose we land a flag on the pole before the decade is over.

Re: Expectations for the new decade
Technically 5B is correct. 1-10 is a decade, not 0-9, and officially the millennium began in 2001.
But people like referring to the '80s, ''90s, etc., so here we are.

Concur.Nick_BlueNRG wrote: ↑Tue 05 Nov 2019 9:48am 2020 is not actually the new decade. We went from 1BC to 1AD skipping the year 0. This meant that the first decade was year 1 to 10 hence 2011 to 2020. That means the new decade will be 2021.
Another amusing example of this lack of numeracy is former AFL CEO Ross Oakley who suffered an embarrassing case of premature celebrations.
Ross was due to retire at the end of 1996.
So he decided to declare 1996 as the AFL centenary and organised a series of events and celebrations across the year which he presided over and basked in the glow.
The only problem was the VFL/AFL started in 1897 so whilst 1996 was the 100th season, the competition didn't actually reach it's centenary until the end of 1996 i.e. 1997, or the year AFTER his retirement!
(Presumably Ross will celebrate his 99th birthday with 100 candles!)

Re: Expectations for the new decade
The Google definition of decade is 's period of ten years'. That should mean a decade can start at any time. The next ten years starts from now.

Re: Expectations for the new decade
What's a "google definition"? Is that, like, whatever information you happen to find from anywhere on the Internet? Cos, like, that might not be a 100% reliable way of finding out stuff

The OP is referring to the new Decade though, not just any decade.

Re: Expectations for the new decade
My expectation is for us is to be debt-free and having a membership tally that is more reflective of actual Saints supporters - upwards of 80,000 signed up would be a minimum come 2029/30.
We are desperate for King to become a star and a lot is riding on him unfortunately. Rooey alone would've captured a whole generation of Sainters.

Surely not! If that's the case 90% of my info might not be correct.
