Saints opener against the roos.

"St Kilda fans will get their first opportunity to see new recruits Brad Hill, Zak Jones, Dougal Howard, Dan Butler and Paddy Ryder for the first time in Round 1, 2020, under the roof at Marvel Stadium. Jay Clark reveals their opponent.

St Kilda looks set to unveil its battery of new recruits against North Melbourne in Round 1 next year.
The AFL has lined up the Saints to take on the Roos in an evenly-matched season-opener under the roof as part of the draft of its 2020 fixture.
While the league is yet to finalise the fixture and could yet make last-minute changes before releasing it later next week, the two clubs look set to start exciting new chapters under new coaches, Brett Ratten and Rhyce Shaw, against each other in their first match of the regular season.
It will be a new-look St Kilda side featuring as many as five new recruits.
The Saints are coming off a successful trade period where the club added electrifying wingman Brad Hill, tough midfielder Zak Jones, tall utility Dougal Howard, speedster Dan Butler and veteran ruckman Paddy Ryder.
Last year’s top draft pick Max Ming could also be in the frame after working his way back from a knee reconstruction.
North could also hand x-factor midfielder Aiden Bonar his first North jersey after making the move from GWS Giants in the exchange period."
The hun mentions a chinese recruit too.

Re: Saints opener against the roos.
gee they should give north the china game. hope their recruit does well and off they go.
hell just relocate them there, then everyone (bar collingwood and richmond no doubt) has to play up there.
And a game vs north sets us up. both ways. very winnable but if we lose, look out.

That was the Good Friday Debacle
As ex-president Peter Summers said:

Bruce kicked six the last time we played North
...and still lost!
Will be a great look at & test of our new structure all across the ground. Looking forward to it.

Re: Saints opener against the roos.
We've only won two of our past eleven against North.
If we go in with our five new recruits plus King in the side we have an opportunity to make a statement about our future.
Our side will be very different from the St Kilda team which has been playing against North for the past eight seasons.
We deserve to be rank underdogs but that doesn't mean we won't beat them.

Re: Saints opener against the roos.
We got raped by the umps in tassie last time.
Still cant believe there wasnt an investigation.
Was it that chick umpire? She f****** hates us.
Seriously the most bulls*** biased blatant cheating ever.
Had the umps been normal and just we wouldve win that game.
Biggest disgrace.

The last time we played in tassie we were 7 goals down at quarter time. Do you think it was the umpires?SMS wrote: ↑Sat 02 Nov 2019 9:53am We got raped by the umps in tassie last time.

Re: Saints opener against the roos.
We could have 7 players playing their debut game for Saints against North.
If so, then apart from our first game ever that would be one of our highest number of debutants ever?
Though WW2 may have caused a few aberrations.
In Round 1 2001 we had 6 = Hamill, Voss, Capuano, Robert Powell, Callaghan, Mark Gale
The G-Train debuted in Round 2. Roo and Kosi did not play in Round 1.

I wonder if they will stagger the new players entry into the firsts in 2020 too?saintsRrising wrote: ↑Sat 02 Nov 2019 1:55pm We could have 7 players playing their debut game for Saints against North.

And will Hanners play? I’m hoping this will be Hanners, statement-of-intent game.
Mark Gale...geez...who? I had to check wiki. Played 13 games for us that year and then gone. AFL career done at just 25!
