Not sure what motivated this thread but it was a very enjoyable blast from the past.
Proudly assuming the title of forum Oracle and serving as the inaugural Saintsational ‘weak as piss brigade’ President.

Re: Welcome Alex
Thanks for posting this Jaxons. Anyone old enough to remember this classic? This game had it all.
Nothing has changed much in nearly 40 years. Notwithstanding the strong breeze on a 28 degree Autumn day, our skills and kicking for goal were just as deplorable (4 goals 8 behinds in the first qtr!).
Robbie Muir was a standout with his sublime skills and speed. He really was a cut above most of the players on the ground and made every disposal count. He was skilled, fast and tough. Can’t help thinking, what if?
70s and 80s favourites include: That other famous no 12 Gary Colling, Jimmy O’Dea, the erratic, inconsistent, but talented Garry Sidebottom, Russell Greene (before he was really good), the highly underrated and undersized Jeff Sarau, Joffa Cunningham, that tough nut from Snake Valley Greg Burns; the skilful and courageous Bruce Duperouzel, the flashy Ian Satori, Mordecai "Mordy" Bromberg, and of course the one and only, Barks.
Other highlights:
Terrible skills and not much system; just bang it on the boot to a contest. It was pretty hot and windy that day but we really were a terrible team.
I always enjoyed the low key, no frills ABC commentary and Ian Cleland was one of my favourite commentators as a kid because he told it as it was (“it was a creme puff kick, wasn’t it?). He’s commenting here alongside a young Tim Lane.
