Thought they may have got 80 and 94 thrown in by The Giants as we need to draft 3 players.

Tend to agree. Freo is being silly so we have to be prepared to walk away.SMS wrote: ↑Thu 10 Oct 2019 4:36pm Forget Hill GET BEN KING!!
We got ZJones, Hind, Parker, Kent, Long, Billings
how many little wingers do we need??
Geary Carlisle Webster
Wilkie Howard Savage
Hind Ross ZJones
Billings BKing Parker
Gresham MKing Membrey
Marshal Steele, Clark
Ryder Acres Dunstan Coffield
Another pre season into the young guns we will be fine.
Rotate the king twins, rotate marshal and ryder
Thats a good team.
Trade for Jones, Ryder, etc., and use 12 as part of a trade for B. King.

I don’t know if Hill comes or not.
But I did enjoy giving Freo the shock...

That's a lot of shocks
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”

I agree with a lot of what you say.To the top wrote: ↑Thu 10 Oct 2019 5:35pm With all due respect SMS, I would NOT like to see a St Kilda side which continues to include the likes of Geary, Webster and Savage who to me are relics of an unsuccessful past and need to be moved on from plus I have serious doubts on Hind and Parker (including because I believe we have better options)
Plus I have a question mark over Ross despite his CV (just 22 goals from 124 games plus can we select Ross, Steele and Dunstan in the same side noting Steele tackles and handballs and Dunstan is "in and under" so of more team value than Ross?).
And Carlisle is a genuine outer defence KPP, not an accountable last line KPP. You are taking away his strength of intercept marking.
Added to that, Coffield is genuine CLASS, as with Clark and they will be our 2 mid sized defenders with (hopefully) Roberton, then Battle and a contest between Austin, Claravino and Howard on the last line.
And, we only have ONE King on our List.
We can't no longer accept poor skill execution. I'd actually trade Ross, geary, Savage, Webster for B King now.

I like Savage, I also think he plays within himself and seems to be introverted. That's not a weakness btw, introverts can be the best members of a team, they simply require a different approach.fugazi wrote: ↑Thu 10 Oct 2019 6:16pmTo the top wrote: ↑Thu 10 Oct 2019 5:35pm With all due respect SMS, I would NOT like to see a St Kilda side which continues to include the likes of Geary, Webster and Savage who to me are relics of an unsuccessful past and need to be moved on from plus I have serious doubts on Hind and Parker (including because I believe we have better options)

What does Savage have to do to demonstrate his worth.
Had a great year. Couple of games he kept us in it.
Not a star but a very good player that knows the drill.
He is not unlike Billings, who sometimes looks a little embarrassed being the star, although he is growing in this respect (as you'd expect with age). I think Ratts will be very much a better mentor for both of these blokes to be honest, he will not stifle them
Savage had a fantastic season 2019, and there's no reason not to be there again in 2020. Gears, Jimmy and Robbo, who knows?

Looking past the possible trades ..
Pick 12 and 18 might deliver another Acres and Dunstan via the draft.
Pick 6 had a lot more value... potentially speaking - might deliver a future A grader?

Anyone who thinks Dunstan is more important to the team than Ross

The problem though is all of Ross, Dunstan and Steele in the same team. I don't know how often Hill plays directly at a centre bounce? but he would have to take Ross' position on the ground, wouldn't he? Ross is the closest to Hill out of those three (job wise), but wouldn't carry Hill's bag to training

Ross gets more Brownlow votes and coaches votes than Dunstan or Steele or Acres, but I know which guys are more important to us winning
have a look at the voting for this years TB award. I would have had Billings and Marshall ahead of Sebby but the coaches saw things otherwise

Re: TRADE: Saints picks 6 & 59 for Giants 12 & 18
Our B&F is not based on a 3-2-1 system. It's more of a rating of each player after every game. Coaches obviously rated Ross more consistently during the season than Marshall and Billings. Steven Baker won the award way back under Thomo I believe.Scollop wrote: ↑Mon 14 Oct 2019 1:11amRoss gets more Brownlow votes and coaches votes than Dunstan or Steele or Acres, but I know which guys are more important to us winning
