Re: TRADE: Saints picks 6 & 59 for Giants 12 & 18
I must admit that I am a little surprised:
-As Pick 6 may not be low enough to not have Greens name called out by the Swans prior to it. = GWS Problem
-And Pick 12 may not be low enough to before Liam Henry's name is called out. = Maybe St Kilda problem if Freo think likewise
With 12 our early pick now I assume that Freo must be ok at receiving Acres or someone similar.

I am sure they do and I am fascinated what it is!
Acres to Freo with 12?
Maybe 18 for Howard and Ryder, or even Howard, Gray and Ryder?

Re: TRADE: Saints picks 6 & 59 for Giants 12 & 18
Exactly, now we have two first round picks
We sold
pick 6 = 1,751 points
pick 59 = 158 points
total = 1,909 points
We got
pick 12 = 1,268 points
pick 18 = 985 points
total = 2253 points = roughly pick 3
We gained 344 points worth pick 45
GWS did this deal because they want to get in a first round pick before they have to 80% match a bib for their academy player Tom Green.
Melbourne, Adelaide or Sydney could still bid for Green given that everyone knows who is going to Gold Coast.

18 + Acres for Hill would seem to be very, very close to the mark.
Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

That would be good if we could make it happen. But I suspect it will be will be either 12 & 18 for Hill or 12 & Acres for Hill. Leaves 18 for Howard.

I’ll be seriously pissed off if we get rid of Acres ,there are plenty on our list to move on but he has X factor & a good tank just hasn’t been coached properly or played in position! Hope he doesn’t go because it’s one we will regret !

Yep. Sounds like we just paid pick 6 and pick 59 for Hill effectively.

Re: TRADE: Saints picks 6 & 59 for Giants 12 & 18
People are mistaking Freo's "demand" with what they will settle for.
They are trying to drive up the price, which is their right. But I think they'll settle for 12 or 18 + Acres. Both are reasonable deals for a wantaway 27-year old.
Bell is trying to make his name as a tough negotiator but it's looking a bit silly now. I'm hoping we get it done in the final hour of trade week.

Would like to see something come back out way in this scenario. Port only have junk picks after 29 though.

Re: TRADE: Saints picks 6 & 59 for Giants 12 & 18
So is it:
1. coincidence ? or
2. was it always part of the Saints plan to get Hill by offering 2 first rounders , or
3. did Freo get a sniff this was happening and make the ask public to try and snaffle both those picks

Re: TRADE: Saints picks 6 & 59 for Giants 12 & 18
I can't imagine that we are going to give both 12 and 18 to Freo - why would Freo take them after knowing that we got a free pick 45 for the trade - why would they not see it as the same as pick 6 and therefore no benefit???
It does not sweeten the deal if I go to the shops to buy an $50.00 item and rather than giving them $50.00 I give then 2 x $20.00. That only works on 5 year olds!

Re: TRADE: Saints picks 6 & 59 for Giants 12 & 18
I think they may go for it as pick 6 is too high a price for Henry as no one is likely to bid for him before 10.
However, they may see a bid come in the mid to late 1st round which with 18 they can match given you get a discount.
They also get to save some face as they came out with a somewhat ridiculous scenario and can now say they got the two first rounders they wanted.

Re: TRADE: Saints picks 6 & 59 for Giants 12 & 18
Wholeheartedly agree Paddle
My preference would be to send Geary to Fremantle
Or Webster, McKenzie, Lonie and a number of others - preferably the lot of those who have been the millstone around the Clubs on field performance post the exit of Lyon
When we have won games over recent seasons Acres has been one of the consistent reasons - and confirmation of that was 4 wins and a draw in 2018 when Acres missed most of the season with injury - no coincidence
It is a pity we do not still have Longer to trade - and the never ending support of him as an AFL footballer on this Forum speaks for the assessments on here

Just starting to show his class. His attack on the ball in the forward half was really encouraging. Would be a serious loss.PADDLEPOP1001 wrote: ↑Thu 10 Oct 2019 2:43pm I’ll be seriously pissed off if we get rid of Acres ,there are plenty on our list to move on but he has X factor & a good tank just hasn’t been coached properly or played in position! Maybe I’ve missed something, but to the best of my knowledge your honor, there was only one forum poster and it appeared one former coach who rated the human lamppost highly, my take is most on this forum felt he was a liability. To the top wrote: ↑Thu 10 Oct 2019 3:35pm Wholeheartedly agree Paddle

As for Acres, you way overrate his performance to date.
At times he looks like the next Paddy Dangerfield and I’d like to keep him, but he’s got to start performing consistently to deliver on his talent.
I agree that if we let him go he might be a big improver and embarrass us, but will he reach his potential as a saint?
Proudly assuming the title of forum Oracle and serving as the inaugural Saintsational ‘weak as piss brigade’ President.
