One Thing is For Certain
We seem to be in so many possible trades.
Hill, Ryder, Jones, and now possibly Howard and Butler.
It seems as though our team for 2020 will be very different from 2019.
Especially if King, Bytel, (and possibly Roberton) come into our 22.
I'm excited about next year - new coach, new players.
Whether we have picked the right players, or offload the wrong players - time will tell.
At least, the Club has shown that the last few years are not acceptable.
24 weeks to go - can't wait!!!

I wonder if Ratten told the club the list needs an overhaul if it wants to succeed, might have been a conversation either during his caretaker coaching role or during his interview process.oboe wrote: ↑Wed 09 Oct 2019 8:27pm We seem to be in so many possible trades.

Someone has woken the club up re the need for action.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

One Thing Is For Certain
Is that things happen when Gubby is hired.
For years we tried to land a big fish and the first year he is involved we get one.
And then we beat out Hawthorn, Essendon, Collingwood among others to land disputed trade prospects. That hasn't happened since Fraser Gehrig I reckon.
Now how do we close these deals? It seems difficult to me.

Re: One Thing is For Certain
From the sidelines it's been quite an impressive trade period for us...I know the trades haven't come to fruition yet but there's certainly talent wanting to come across to the Saints. Cast your mind back to last year when we said we were interested in everybody, and almost none wanted to come.
The interesting thing over the next couple of weeks is to see if any/all deals are finalised - not many picks to play with and a lot of players on the wish list!

Him playing those last few games showed how valuable he will be.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Thu 10 Oct 2019 9:18am& this years 2nd round pick. A pick that would be handy at the moment.

That's for sure. Let's hope he can pull his head in and get himself right both on and off the field. Also, I reckon Sydney will be looking after us this year with Jones in the wake of taking Hannaz off their books.CURLY wrote: ↑Thu 10 Oct 2019 9:20amHim playing those last few games showed how valuable he will be.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Thu 10 Oct 2019 9:18am& this years 2nd round pick. Did not seem to be any competition for his services unlike several of this year's prospects.

The Hannebury deal is still a fail for us based in his output for 2019.
Just going on recent history, Dan's graph over the last few years is showing that he's cooked. If his body performs similarly to 2019, he'll be lucky to be playing at all in 2021. You can't clog your list with guys that are injured for 80% of the year
The only positive has been that he came good in the last few games and perhaps the move by him to choose our club in 2019 may be a catalyst for more players nominating the Saints for 2020.
The other positive of course is that Ratts is doing a far better job than Richo at attracting talent and selling a vision

Re: One Thing is For Certain
Very happy about the players coming in as I do not trust our ability to develop players - the number of draft flops is insane.
But we need to shore the list of talented players who would do better elsewhere. I'd be into Gold Coast's ear about sending some players their way for 2nd and 3rd round picks.

I think your last paragraph is closer to the truth Scollop. I think it's a long bow to link Hannebury as the catalyst for these players nominating StK. Jones perhaps but I doubt the others.

Marto,
Hannebery was a Tuna. We want a Whale Shark (like Hamill)....
(I guess Hill is a Swordfish....)
