Re: Hill's knee injury
Oh FFS, it’s a miniscus issue, his knee is structurally ok. Even IF it requires surgery it’s generally a minor one which would barely cost him any time off. A lot of players play through the season with miniscus issues and get a clean up in the off season. Hill played all last season with it and still came close to AA and covered his normal 15kms a game

Re: Hill's knee injury
This is serious, this may compromise his ability ever play again.
Fortunately we are club that is prepared to take a risk with players who will never play again due to a minor injury but hey Freo you will have to accept less to get Hill off your list.
How about we give a second round pick instead of our pick 6.

No, the Einstein's in charge gave away our future 2nd and 3rd round picks to bring forward their rubbish selections by a year.barneyboyz wrote: ↑Tue 08 Oct 2019 11:38amDo we have a second round pick?ace wrote: ↑Tue 08 Oct 2019 7:35am This is serious, this may compromise his ability ever play again.

Re: Hill's knee injury
There would not be an AFL player who does not have or has not suffered some form of meniscus injury.
Very, very minor.
I have had meniscus repairs on both knees due to running wear and tear and I was back running within a fortnight both times.
This is no Nathan Freeman situation, nothing to see here.
Pretty sure if we tell them #6 is off the table they'd be happy to retain Hill or would have no issue finding interested Melbourne clubs looking to acquire a player of Hills ability.

Re: Hill's knee injury
Hill for pick 6 and they give us back pick 26.
It’s really not that hard for Freo to understand!
Clearly that would be our offer and it’s very fair.
They got rid of Tosshead and should be in a happier place now.

Re: Hill's knee injury
Hill is exactly who we need. Would prefer him over Dylan Shiel for instance. Pick 6 is fair, 26 back is a win.
Knee should not be a problem 3 - 4 week issue at most.

Re: Hill's knee injury
As somebody who with a torn meniscus, it's such an annoying injury.
My knees have never fully recovered from it, and as you get older, it's a bit of a multiplication problem - your knees get shot anyway and the meniscus tear just means you never get back your true mobility.
Hopes he recovers better than I did.

Re: Hill's knee injury
My understanding is that torn meniscus is UN-repairable. The more you run or play football the more torn it becomes, the more painful it becomes, the more the knee swells with fluid and the more long term damage you do to your knee sockets.
My own knees are completely stuft, if only somebody would invent a 'meniscus silicone', it would solve a lot of problems.

Torn meniscus can lead to chronic knee problems if not treated early.

Re: Hill's knee injury
If every player in the league's got a torn meniscus, how come Hill's the only player in the draft for whom it rates a mention? Of course, Nick's knees were famously buggered - but not when he was at his peak.

it was mentioned because it was picked up in the medical that he did with our club doctor and because he is a high profile player.

I’m impressed they picked it up!
Good to know these things are done properly (inc Keith) and not just a formality.

Re: Hill's knee injury
Trade Radio just said we met with Freo and they have asked for 2 First round picks and something else. We walked out. Meeting lasted 2 and a half minutes.

Re: Hill's knee injury
Walking out of the meeting is the correct response if that is what Freo have asked for.
It is completely unrealistic and is valuing Hill higher than Kelly.
Pick 6 is worth more than pick 14 this year and next year.
