Who’s better, Bruce or Boyd?
Dogs gave up Ryan Griffen & #6 for Boyd.
Bruce is a proven solid player at his peak, given the precedent we should he getting their #14 for Bruce.
The Boyd trade helped them to a flag and they are arguably in the hunt next season with Bruce & Keath joining them.
If we get Geelongs 2nd round pick (say #34) for Steven.
How about Bruce & #5 & #34 for #14 & Bailey Smith & their 3rd rounder.
We then use #14 on Hill which looks about right.
Out - Bruce, Steven & #5
In - Smith, Hill & 3rd round pick.

Would do that in a heartbeat but doubt they'd let Smith go.Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Fri 27 Sep 2019 1:15pm Dogs gave up Ryan Griffen & #6 for Boyd.

Wonder whether it would be worth having a chat to Boyd to see where he's at. Wouldnt have to pay much and would be a perfect Bruce replacement.

Why don’t we just ask for Bont as well?
Bit Dodoro like just picking a player you want in return.

So, what's Max King? A block of flats?

If you watch Mike Sheahans interview with him he says he's not interested in playing again.

Things change but fair enough. Just think it would be a good fit.magnifisaint wrote: ↑Fri 27 Sep 2019 6:58pmIf you watch Mike Sheahans interview with him he says he's not interested in playing again.
And no Max King isn't a block of flats (that's a new one)
With Battle now likely to go forward its a very inexperienced forward line. Whilst its a good long term plan, it would be nice to have a senior big body to help out. Ryder will help but there's a big question mark on how effective he'll be.

Re: Who’s better, Bruce or Boyd?
He might as well be....he was injured in his last season of pre AFL.
He was injured again differently ending his season in VFL.
In 2019...he's less than a block of flats...until he proves differently....which we all hope happens.

Well if they throw in Bont they can keep their 3rd rounder.Spinner wrote: ↑Fri 27 Sep 2019 5:53pmJoffa Burns wrote: ↑Fri 27 Sep 2019 1:15pm Dogs gave up Ryan Griffen & #6 for Boyd.

Re: Who’s better, Bruce or Boyd?
The last time we played WB we beat them 17.14 to 14.5
So how come all of a sudden they are a better team than us?
Look at the stats from that game
We add Hannebery, Hill and Ryder and lose Bruce
Plus we add the unknown of King and Bytel - and anyone else we snag who is an AFL known contributor
So why sell ourselves short v WB?
Remember what Ferguson said when At Manchester United

They finished 3 games and 24% ahead of us. That would make them a better team.To the top wrote: ↑Fri 27 Sep 2019 9:28pm The last time we played WB we beat them 17.14 to 14.5

We also beat them in 2016 and Richmond in 2017.

Re: Who’s better, Bruce or Boyd?
But, we beat them quite easily
So how did that happen?
Ferguson subscribed to the view that he was never interested in the comings and going’s at lower Clubs, only the sides in contention along with Manchester United and where he would respond to maintain Manchester United’s advantage
I basically know nothing of WB apart from media headlines so absolutely nothing
But where do they sit with a core of experienced players versus the demographic of our List and how did injuries impact them?
So season performance is acknowledged but we still jumped out of the blocks and beat them quite comfortably
We didn’t have too bad a side on the park that night - look at the stats and where the contributions came from because that, to me at least, is the benchmark we must start from and improve from
So that was good enough for starters
We lose Bruce from that side
And we add AFL experience in Hannebery, Hill and Ryder
Plus we have the potential of King and Bytel
As I say, a start point
We are still a couple of class players short to be sure including that another Hill would be priceless and that we need a more offensive presence from Steele, Ross and Dunstan who are impeded as role players not getting into dangerous positions and hitting the scoreboard
With another year and Carlisle, Clark, Coffield, Battle and hopefully Roberton and Austin or Claravino as our back 6 we look to be harder to score against
Our mids need to get more active noting the possessions in that WB game - and the contribution from Acres
And against WB we kicked 17.14 without a contribution from Bruce
So there you go

We changed coach.
Coincidentally that's what a bloke on the radio said GWS should have done this week - When the old coach gets the sars and a new one steps in the teams have won.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

You could return fire with who got a better draw, or had a better run with injuries. We barely raised a sweat when we mowed them down this year, they didn't against us previously, I've never thought much of their list, nor ours...so lets call it a draw?Spinner wrote: ↑Fri 27 Sep 2019 10:59pmTo the top wrote: ↑Fri 27 Sep 2019 9:28pm The last time we played WB we beat them 17.14 to 14.5

Good point.
The bulldogs finished 7th... The saints finished 14th.
I remember playing the Suns, the Blues twice... in fact it was largely seen as the easiest fixture going into 2019.
But yes, we are a better team than the Dogs just because we beat them once.

Great point also. Geez, they did well in the finals, didn't they? Looked like a real powerhouse, thoroughly deserved to be there. Making the finals is a big accomplishment. Guess we have forgotten given the last 8 years.
