In The Knows Please
Your time to shine boys and girls.
So what is really going on?
The rumours : we are definitely getting Brad Hill and Zac Jones, maybe Paddy Ryder, Jake Kelly. Constable as part of the Steven trade to the Cats. We are possibly losing Acres and Carlisle. Also I think Longer and Pierce. Who else is on the cards to be culled?
It would be really welcome to get some inside intel that confirms some or all of the above or anything else that we may not know about. Is our pick on the table? Is Ratts the favourite for the coaching job?
Over to you and all.

Re: In The Knows Please
Sounds good.
What I love in the off season is when we do big clean outs.
Chomeister was a deluded fool who went for organic growth. That’s gone mouldy!
Bring on a good 10 changes to our list like last year. That was a good start.

Re: In The Knows Please
Interesting hearing such and such is on the trade table.
It all comes down to interpretation.
My understanding is there is only 7 regular senior players the club will not enter into any discussions for other teams.
4, 9,14,15,19, 28 and one other I think it was 44 but not 100% (maybe 26)
Plus some younger ones ie. 12, 23 etc.
This does not mean the others are on the table - more that they are willing to listen to offers.
Have also heard that the club wasn't looking at 27 going but the initial offer bandied around was too good to be true, and we now entertaining it.
Now for the big disclaimer: Source someone at the club, but hasn't always been right.
Has told me 8 was 100% out the door mid season but now coaches have changed reconsidering his desire to leave.

Also - I have been told in no uncertain terms that B.King will not be at the saints next year!
although this message was followed by a winky face.
So make of that what you will.
Maybe someone towing the company line or they looking at the year after.... i dunno

Re: In The Knows Please
Karl Amon from Port has nominated us and believes a deal will get done. He wanted to come last year but the Hannaz deal fizzled any offer we could put forward to Port.
Amon had a very good year and I reckon could wind up being a cheaper alternative to Jack Martin.

In the knows can't say a thing.
Because trading is so volatile, anything could happen.
It's not like looking for a new house, where you know which suburbs and your price range.
This is far messier, too many variables.

Agree.
The two most certain things at present is probably Hill and Tomlinson to nominate us.
However if Hawks and/or Blues miss out on Cogs then one of both teams could suddenly chase Hill. Blues in particular have a lot of $$$$ they can splash that have set aside for Cogs. While Hawks have a large offer also to Cogs, I doubt they would offer Hill as much the Blues would.
Apart from those two anything could happen. The club is probably shaking the tree to see if they can get good offers for Bruce (I would prefer to keep) and Carlisle and if they do that frees up the players we could then potentially gain from other clubs.

Thank you for the post. It just made me look critically at our list again.
He are the departures Certain and Probable : Armitage ( already gone), Rowe ( already gone) , Longer, Pierce, McCartin ( retired) , Roberton ( would love to see him continue but I think his health issues means he will retire), Steven.
Maybe: Newnes, Rice, Young, Brown, Acres.
Longshot: Bruce, Lonie, McKenzie.
That's 15 players in total. Now that would be a clean out and a half. Also operating on the basis that you have to give some to get some.

He's juggling all the likely scenarios in terms of salary cap.
'How much, can we fit him in?"
And 'if we let player X go, who can we afford?'
Lots of ???

What Doggies perhaps looking at the missing link to win the flag in 2020? Or indeed flags. Add him to Naughton and that gives you have two very good talls in your forward line.IluvHarvey wrote: ↑Tue 27 Aug 2019 2:27pm
