None will be in the best 22 of a top 2 team.
You must hate Dunstan, you sacked him twice.
You may have difficulties with the Fair Work Commission for that.

Add McCartin and Roberton both on medical grounds.
Pierce would be lucky to be retained.
Rowe & Marsh in serious danger.

None will be in the best 22 of a top 2 team.
The entire team list I assume you mean.
Fair call.
Dunstan's clearance numbers are really good.

But he is so limited in other areas, that I'd take a mid who gets less clearances but gets more ball and/or uses it better over him.

Paton and Phillips will be good players. Dunstan has earned his contract extension on this year's form. Webster is in our best 22 . Savage has had a good year. Austin has been injured all year so you can't make a proper judgement.
Newnes is the obvious one among those who have played regularly.

In my view, these are the players most likely not not be on our list next year

Newnes (trade- or is he a free agent?)
Longer
Pierce
McCartin
Rice
Armitage
White

You can't make wholesale changes in a draft pool that most recruiters consider to be mediocre at best, especially when you have no second round pick at your disposal. I reckon we'll make no more than 6 changes.

Bruce is hot and cold and yesterday just looked directionless. He might be on the trade table.

I don't think we need to be ruthless at all. We have a great core of youngsters all coming through at the same time. Where we have gone wrong IMHO is our recruiting philosophy. Bringing in older players specifically Hanners and Carlisle. They are both too old for our core group of (quality) youngsters. We can't do anything about Hanners now so the most important thing is to get his body right so he can get onto the park and give us leadership. If we are going to get ruthless as in the OP then I am looking at Carlisle. OOC, lazy and too old for our team's age demographic. Offer Carlisle to Gold Coast plus our first pick for Ben King. If they don't accept it then offer Rice as well or some other player that we don't need to sweeten the deal.

I just hope that our recruiters understand that our team needs more quality youth coming through. There is no point burning 2 high draft picks in order to bring in one gun player. By all means, bring in more experience if you think we need it but do that with FA and at the same time keep recruiting the best youth.

I know nothing I say on a forum will make any difference but I am 100% certain that if we continue to bring in players older than 25 (Hill brothers) at the expense of our first pick then we will continue to be in the bottom half of the ladder for another 10 years.

Is that because he's not going anywhere?
The club needs to be "brutal" every year
Unfortunately it needed to be brutal from the top not the bottom end ie coach
Instead we shopped hickey and kept longer and have a mid season coach change
The decisions need to be the right ones

Brucey was trying to do too much yesterday. Hopefully having Max King in the side should help his game a bit.

If we are being Brutal:

Retired/Medical : - Armitage. Rowe, McCartin, robbo, Pierce

Delist/trade: Longer, Newnes, McKenzie, White, Steven (trade),

more could go but that replaces 10 on the list , almost 1/4.

Apart from Robbo and Steven none in our best 22.

Bring in: Hill ( freo) , Goldstein - free agent,

Trade pick 6 for 2 picks in the teens, GWS need to trade to get points for academy players . Send one to freo for Hill, Get Geelong first pick ( around 20 ) for Steven and future 2nd round pick
