Offer Newnes a three year extension
I’m so effing over Newnes.
He’s been gifted a career through whatever reason I Dunno.
We can’t blame Richo anymore.
Just sign him on for another 3 years and I’ll stop bitching and moaning and learn to accept it

If that’s the case and I hope you’re right, why do we continue to play him??

Re: Offer Newnes a three year extension
Not sure what’s happened to him?.... confidence or body?
He was a solid B Grader for 3 years... now he is hopeless.
I seriously think he is playing 5kg heavy, at his best he was a hard running wing/he with most of his possessions uncontested. He was in the top 3 of the club for 3k and used that run in games.
Since then he has relied less on his running, and has become a HF with a contested, defensive focus.
I don’t think it works for him, and as such is pretty useless

Re: Offer Newnes a three year extension
What's frustrating with each game he gets is the fact we've had footballers, likely the athletic equals to him, such as Phillips, White and Coffield not being afforded opportunity and experience.B.M wrote: ↑Sat 17 Aug 2019 9:46pm Not sure what’s happened to him?.... confidence or body?

A cynical person would say we are required to have "X" amount of our salary cap on the park in the ones.

He is like so many of our players who have no composure- McKenzie, Dunstan, Sinclair, Lonie and Steele ar times. We need to correct their issues or move them on.
But I think Newnes has been told he is going?

Hopefully he is gone and by continuing to play him they are fattening him up for market.
Less value as an exchange / trade if he has been at Sandy for the 2nd half of 6th the season...

Tomy74 should tell us what the Eff is going on with Newnes.
But he never told us much about Weller either

fattening up for the market? it's hardly selling your wares when prospective buyers can see the malnourished cattle struggling to walk in the fields.

bulls*** about Sinclair having no composure. He has more than most of the rest of the team combined.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Sat 17 Aug 2019 11:07pm He is like so many of our players who have no composure- McKenzie, Dunstan, Sinclair, Lonie and Steele ar times. His problem is that he doesn’t get enough of the ball

Re: Offer Newnes a three year extension
What do you want Tony to say? That Newnes & Weller are both pretty average footballers to begin with and are still playing to that level accordingly?WellardSaint wrote: ↑Sun 18 Aug 2019 3:00am Tomy74 should tell us what the Eff is going on with Newnes.

That would be the truth. Not sure you need Tony to tell you that.

Re: Offer Newnes a three year extension
Unsigned this deep into the season Newnes would be extremely nervous. He would be hoping the club offer him a one year contract or the Gold Coast give him a lifeline & sign him for two.

He was the only player who managed to kick a goal for us in the third quarter though.
And there were plenty out there who missed absolute sodas.

There's your 3 year extension there.samuraisaint wrote: ↑Sun 18 Aug 2019 10:29am He was the only player who managed to kick a goal for us in the third quarter though.

One of our biggest problems is that as a team collective we can make little things look good, find excuses for holding on to players. That's how bad and how forgiving we've become.
Funnily enough, the highlights of Parker's games this year, remembering he's been dropped three times are better than Newnes highlights for the past two years.
People call for X factor, I still believe that's over hyped but we will have plenty of X factor if the other players out on the field are mediocre, with a touch of crap & a pinch of useless. Does not take much to shine amongst this current list.

So he can kick straight when he has one of his half a dozen set shots per year, good reason to play/keep him

Re: Offer Newnes a three year extension
You miss my point - what I am saying is simply that at least he took his chance - there were plenty yesterday who did not. They all tried but some of the efforts looked like they were coming from some very tired, and in a lot of cases unconditioned footballers.
I take a little bit of heart from the fact that we were really still in the match until the very end, but this is tempered by the fact that we played the 16th team at a neutral venue.

Re: Offer Newnes a three year extension
And Newnes kicked a goal, which should be kicked 7/10 times or better at that level.
Just because others misses sodas doesn’t make his goal better than it was, it was not a difficult shot which he should have kicked.
