Re: Goldstein
get goldy and sandy will improve. but no way would i have him taking the main rucking duties off marshall, and he can't play anywhere else on the field without us losing a better option. start teaching kingy to ruck, when roma needs a break we'll have king, carlisle (if the lazy bastard would play different roles with a bit of effing enthusiasm), bruce, or even battle, or poor acres to slot in. get a decent sanfl player to ruck at sandy - be a lot cheaper than goldy playing there, and the lad might see it as his one golden chance if he ever gets required.

Re: Goldstein
Might have been a good idea just to keep Hickey.
Passable ruckman. Mobile. Good enough for the reigning premiers.
Would have made for a good back-up for Marshall.

With the progression of Marshall it is probably an unexpected masterstroke.
Marshall’s numbers are out of this world, and given his age, experience and position (ruck) is easily our best player.

I think moving Hickey on had more to do with the size of his contract, not the player himself.Waltzing St Kilda wrote: ↑Wed 14 Aug 2019 3:31am Might have been a good idea just to keep Hickey.

Re: Goldstein
McCartin will never play again, the sooner he is gone the better for him and the club.To the top wrote: ↑Tue 13 Aug 2019 10:49am The demographics of our List are that we have one ruckman - Marshall
On our List we have potential key position forwards in McCartin and King - neither of whip you would ruck (at least not King at this juncture of his career)
Which leaves us with Bruce as the ruck alternative including on match days - this being an unsatisfactory outcome
Carlisle can not be spared from defence
The folly of course was putting our eggs in the Longer basket and clearing Hickey to West Coast
But the damage there is now done (repeat Steven so do not repeat)
Hence we need ruck support for Marshall
Where the benefit of Marshall and Goldstein is is that they can both contribute to general play - so can be on the ground together aka Everitt and Vidovic when Everitt would go forward and kick goals
You would imagine King will be nursed thru his first couple of seasons so an impact player off the bench until his body develops to withstand the physicality required as a key forward
Goldstein would suit this development so benefit both Marshall (who is only 30 odd games in and only less than 20 rucking) and King (0 games in) over the next 2 seasons
By then we may have another King - or whoever
He needs to get on with a real career.
