Changes v Blues
Possible Outs - Coffield, 8cres (possibly injured), Marshall (possibly injured/may pull up sore)
Possible Ins - White, Joyce, Rowe (to play ruck)
If there are any changes I would like to see Parker playing at Sandy. He didn't play this week due to a bye and needs time down there to work on his game.

Re: Changes v Blues
Well the Blues have two big forwards in McKay 200cm and Casboult 201cm.
So with Coffield our injured I would bring Brown back in. Brown will give the young McKay an education.
Freo went with only the one tall forward in Darcy their second ruck, which is why Brown was omitted.

Re: Changes v Blues
I don't think we should be dropping them just because of the tatts. Unless the tatts are very offensive, of course.

Actually - I think these guys are clean skins - so maybe it is because they don't have ink - and are getting some this week!

Re: Changes v Blues
Dropping Brown very nearly cost us big time. Of course I understand why they did it, but we were very short for at least half of first quarter, which could have been the game right theresaintsRrising wrote: ↑Mon 12 Aug 2019 4:22pm Well the Blue have two big forwards in McKay 200cm and Casboult 201cm.

Re: Changes v Blues
Yes, there was a momentum switch when we lost Marshall then Bruce quickly after resulting in Carlisle rucking.
Then Coffield was done (and he had been excellent) then Acres impeded
Fortunately Marshall returned - and despite Sandilands hand feeding Fyffe Marshall impacted by contesting around the ground.
We were a bit too slow going to the goal square when he left Sandilands in his wake but.

Shows just how difficult it might be making adjustments on the fly these days, especially without a runnerTo the top wrote: ↑Mon 12 Aug 2019 4:57pm Yes, there was a momentum switch when we lost Marshall then Bruce quickly after resulting in Carlisle rucking.

Freo bench was much louder than ours for most of the day too, with players barking instructions to others on the ground

Re: Changes v Blues
Brown needs to come in. Carlton play tall in their front half. Maybe he'll replace Acres, who looked injured at the end. Webster is the obvious replacement for Webster. I'd put Marshall in cotton wool for the rest of 2019. He's now our most important player, so why risk further injury for two games that are meaningless in the bigger scheme of things?

Re: Changes v Blues
The last time we went into our last two matches of the year without a recognised ruckman we lost both games by a combined total of 200 points. Not a good idea.cwrcyn wrote: ↑Mon 12 Aug 2019 5:33pm Brown needs to come in. Carlton play tall in their front half. Maybe he'll replace Acres, who looked injured at the end. If Marshall needs resting then Pierce will need to come straight back in for the last two matches.

Basically it comes down to Rowe, Alabakis or no one.

Re: Changes v Blues
Think Alabakis was put in cotton wool to next year. I read somewhere that he is currently not playing. Rowe would seem the only alternative.diddley wrote: ↑Mon 12 Aug 2019 5:44pmThe last I heard he was still battling concussion symptoms.samuraisaint wrote: ↑Mon 12 Aug 2019 5:41pmThe last time we went into our last two matches of the year without a recognised ruckman we lost both games by a combined total of 200 points. 100th game against his old club who unceremoniously dumped him so they could pick up Hugh. Why not.

Re: Changes v Blues
If Marshall pulls up ok he plays
Out: Coffiled
In: Brown
If Acres inj then working on like for like type rotations either Rice ( utility type) or perhaps they go with a Webster and move Clark to the wing

Re: Changes v Blues
Webster in (if he's overcome his tonsillitis) Coff out.
Only changes I see unless Acres or Marshall struggle to get up.. But since they played out the game I think they should be fine

I agree Brown for Acres , and Webster for Coffield. I think those are no-brainers.cwrcyn wrote: ↑Mon 12 Aug 2019 5:33pm Brown needs to come in. Carlton play tall in their front half. I hope Marshall plays. I really want to beat Carlton, and we would struggle without him on the big G. I am sure Sam Rowe would give his all against his old club if given the chance, but we need ROMA.

Just to clarify -Acres out through injury. Great credit to him for staying on whilst injured yesterday.George27 wrote: ↑Mon 12 Aug 2019 10:16pmI agree Brown for Acres , and Webster for Coffield. Re: Changes v Blues
I wouldn't. He is good and he needs to get even better. More experience, more match miles, inspiring others with his achievements and lifting others too. His handy work gives others new, more and better opportunities. We gel as a team more. He gets more deserved B & F and Brownlow points. Expreince up in Sydney too. Keep Marshall in I say. If he is sore this week, definitely play him in a fortnight.
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Re: Changes v Blues
I think Brown should play, but it wouldn't surprise me if Rowe is picked ahead of him, even if Marshall plays.
The planets are very well aligned for him to play his 100th this week.

Re: Changes v Blues
Whatever happens, this is a MUST WIN game.
Carlton need to be put in their place - they’ve already won too many games this year and we don’t want them to finish off the season well.
Mind you, the rise of Brisbane concerns me re Carlton- let’s hope they pick the wrong coach.
