Harley Bennel
Worth a crack I’d think. We’re paying Young, Parker, Rice and they aren’t half the player a up and running Bennel is. Would be cheap and it reads that they’ve found what’s causing his issues.

A Melbourne based club's officials are going to meet him soon. No idea if its us. No one knows who it is yet.

Can we medically transfer Sincs calves to Bennel's calves? Surely the Germans are doing this futuristic medical science already.

Re: Harley Bennel
Lauchie Neale said he’d had a gut full of Freo recruiting dickheads on decent coin trying to turn them around.
I guess he was referring to Benel, Matera, McCarthy etc
Like or hate Lyon, he doesn’t take s*** from anyone, so if he can’t get Benel straight I’d say he’s no hope.

Correction: Why the f*** not, he can sit in the recovery room with King , Bytel, Roberton, McCartin, Longer, Pierce and Austin or on the toilet with Hannebery.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:

Re: Harley Bennel
I met Bennell the night before he got drafted. What a lovely, modest and humble kid he was. Played pool and chatted to him and a few of his mates for nearly 2 hours in a hotel at the Gold Coast. The kid was just so excited and had the world in front of him. It breaks my heart to see the path he has gone down.
In saying that it’s 100% a no from me.

Re: Harley Bennel
What do we have to loose. Strick contract, cheap, and we will only have to give up 97. Therefore if we cant get him right we put him on the long term injury list and draft someone else mid year. If he's a bad influence or in breach of his contract, we draft someone else mid year.
Whats to loose???

Re: Harley Bennel
Heard one of the ex-player/commentators on SEN (can’t recall who) saying he was over his behavioural issues and was now just a matter of injury recovery. On that basis might be worth a rookie shot.

Re: Harley Bennel
Pending a medical, I’d rookie him. Too much talent to pass up, too risky to draft on the main list.
May actually be getting his life together.

Re: Harley Bennel
I've posted before on him once he and Freo parted ways, and since they reckon they've found the nerve issue that was giving him grief, I'd be all about it as we would get him as a delisted free agent with enormous upside. As we are heavily into Hill, I'd be interested to know what his thoughts would be on the Saints recruiting Harley...

Re: Harley Bennel
That's the key, speak with those who have recently been close to him and whether they've observed marked changes for the better. Hoping he's had that lightbulb moment!outside66 wrote: ↑Thu 08 Aug 2019 10:53am I've posted before on him once he and Freo parted ways, and since they reckon they've found the nerve issue that was giving him grief, I'd be all about it as we would get him as a delisted free agent with enormous upside. Re: Harley Bennel
Agree, I'd rookie him if the medics think he's a chance. He was tracking to win several Brownlows early in his career. As a 19 year old he had 34 disposals and kicked 4 goals in a team that got thumped. He has more natural talent than anyone on our list. Might be a 5% chance of returning successfully but that's about right for a rookie pick.

Do we really need to bring in another player with a coke problem?
