He has played 3 at Sandy
He is a better player 2/3rds fit than Doulton Langlands.

Pointless comment.
Steven 180 games
Langlands 3 games
Any player 2/3rds fit is a liability.

Re: Will Jack Steven play senior football again in 2019?
So my point is obvious, I was suggesting someone was a liability. He wasn’t the only one either (and as a kid, that’s ok) but McKenzie, Parker and Carlisle were too
I reckon Jack on one leg has those 4 covered

If Jack doesn't want to play for the Saints or even AFL, Que Sera Sera. Saints will go on to bigger and better things and Jack will need to work hard on a budget. He would be foolish to leave us for Geelong, however he may not be thinking things through clearly at the moment; we can only wish him the best treatment and whatever makes him less unhappy.
Can't see him forcing his way back, even if he does want to this season. Perhaps now we clearly have a good team forming he won't feel so much stress next year. I can only guess what it must have been like roving to Billy and Tom these last few years and being targeted every game. Also he would be digesting the prospect of a new coach and wondering who it might be.

Yes, very observant comment - "whatever makes him less unhappy". Nail, head.Yorkeys wrote: ↑Sun 04 Aug 2019 7:43pm If Jack doesn't want to play for the Saints or even AFL, Que Sera Sera. Boy, he has been sorely missing for us this year, though. A huge loss. Will be sad if ends up leaving at the end of the season. It wouldn’t exactly be finishing up with us on a high note, after a decade of giving great service to the club

Re: Will Jack Steven play senior football again in 2019?
I have only seen him of TV and youtube for Sandy but he looks overweight and is really going the man a lot and giving away a lot of needless free kicks. I'm not sure if not playing seniors or his personal issues are making him play this way.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

Is it a matter of putting him in the shop window anticipation to for a trade to Geelong?
What gets it done? Geelong’s first rounder? ~pick 15-18?

I'm thinking we should trade Jack, his best football is probably behind him.
Geelong's 1st round would be fine.

Re: Will Jack Steven play senior football again in 2019?
I don't think he will, nor do I think he should.
It is great for him he's training and at the club surrounded by mates. Sandy is enough for him. He's not in great physical condition and will be doing himself a disservice if he was selected in the seniors.
Let 2019 play out, appoint the new coach and let all parties decide what's best for each other.
Love Jack but love the Club more.

What have I missed?
Since when does he want to leave?
Since when would you offload a 4 x B&F winner who provides the pace and ball winning ability that we need so badly?

Cats want him and we still want him, simple as that. Don't get your nickers in a twist.

Re: Will Jack Steven play senior football again in 2019?
Looks llike we have to prepare for a range of possibilities, including, incredible as it seems, he might not be good enough to make the 22 anymore! Players like Jordan Lewis, Mitchell, Hodge etc., all decorated superstars and heroes, and all moved on around the age Steven will be next season, so the point about decorated club hero might not be watertight guarantees.Trev from the Bush wrote: ↑Mon 05 Aug 2019 1:29pmGeez, Barry, what rock have you been hiding under?BarryGrogan wrote: ↑Mon 05 Aug 2019 12:53pm What have I missed?

Boy I hope it 'aint so. I'm still hoping that had Stuv been in against Adelaide, somehow, we might have one it.
Right now, it seems that Hanners and Stuv both borderline..incredible.

to me, this isn't a matter of fitness, if he has told the club that he wants to go to Geelong and the club are happy to move him on, then he should finish out the year at Sandy, we should focus on getting games into players that will be here next year.

Not much point playing him now. Same as Hannas.

Re: Will Jack Steven play senior football again in 2019?
If they are going to help the seniors win this week then play them. If both are fit you play them. If there are question marks on whether Jack can play 4 quarters or if there's questions on Hanna's muscle atrophy, then they can stay in the VFL

When NDS went, I was pretty sad.
If Jack leaves, I'll be gutted.
Really sad if he goes

I kniw the Cats enquired about him. But the rhetoric that he wants to leave is news to me.Trev from the Bush wrote: ↑Mon 05 Aug 2019 1:29pmGeez, Barry, what rock have you been hiding under?BarryGrogan wrote: ↑Mon 05 Aug 2019 12:53pm What have I missed?

Re: Will Jack Steven play senior football again in 2019?
When that player is getting old, no guarantee to be well enough to play again. Let’s not kid ourselves, he’s never made AA, his 4 x BF’s need to be taken in context. Sure he’s been a bit of a shining light, but more an indictment of how bad we’ve been for the last decade. I don’t take any pleasure writing that and I wish him well but I’m not overly fussed weather he stays or goes. One thing I am over is having players on our list who aren’t reliably going play any football...through a mix of bad luck/bad recruiting/did I mention bad luck, we have lost Roberton, Longer, Pierce, Steven, mccartin to weird issues, such bad luck ...and 2, we recruited 3...yes 3 players who were always going to give us nothing this year in King, bytel and hannerbury, (well everyone bar our footy boss knew Hannebery was going to be a bust) dear oh dear...Richo could almost sue the recruitment team for directly leading to his sacking!!BarryGrogan wrote: ↑Mon 05 Aug 2019 12:53pm What have I missed?
