Margin vs Fruit Tingles
Listen,
I am hoping against all logic, that not only will we finally be competitive in Radelaide, I actually hope we play with flair and courage, and manage to snuff Tex and Betts.
I want the lads to take the game on, trust each other, not go into their shells, kick a winning score.
I want us to win.
Heart says 'win'.
Head says we put up a valiant effort, but spend the night playing catch-up.
My prediction:
Qtr time- we're down by 2 goals
Half Time- down by 1 goal
3/4 time- down by 2 goals
Full Time- down by 3 goals
Margin: we lose (sadly) by 17-22 points.

I think we're down by 2 goals at qtr time, 1 goal at 1/2 time, 2 goals at 3/4 time, and 3 goals at final siren.
Margin: we lose (sadly) by 17-22 points.
Exactly what I reckon will happen. On our deck we may have just sneaked our noses in front on the final siren, but over there they get a 3-4 goal advantage

Yep, at Marvel, with a small but noisy supportive crowd, the lads can maintain pressure.Josh Battle wrote: ↑Fri 02 Aug 2019 1:00pmYep. There's my qurter by quarter quaddieWellardSaint wrote: ↑Fri 02 Aug 2019 1:51am Listen,

Enemy territory, mistakes get magnified by crowd noise.
I predict umps will gift 4-6 goals to Crows as well.
If our back 6 play cohesive, they'll starve Betts.
But Playfair is our defensive coach who was asked by Richo 'should we move DMack off Charlie Cameron?' against Lions, and Playfair said no, best match-up.
So i don't think our backs will be in control.

I think it’s a 36 point loss... but would prefer to be wrong.
Adelaide pull out their best 22 against the saints and the saints are still under strength.

Re: Margin vs Fruit Tingles
It is the Adelaide 2017 Grand Final Side - very experienced and battle hardened - and they are playing us who would struggle against that team over there anyway - and we have got more holes in our side than Swiss cheese.
We'll get a hiding.

It’s funny you know that the so called assistant coach turnover amounted to Brett Ratten coming in and Lade as additional.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Fri 02 Aug 2019 1:29pmYep, at Marvel, with a small but noisy supportive crowd, the lads can maintain pressure.Josh Battle wrote: ↑Fri 02 Aug 2019 1:00pmYep. Playfair didn’t get the boot coz he had signed on to a 2 year deal. Hopefully he also goes at the end of the year.
Dmac . Hopefully he keeps Betts in line, but who knows...

Re: Margin vs Fruit Tingles
I might just go nuts if I see another Saints interstate game where we get clobbered in the first quarter and spend the rest of the game trying to play catch up footy. A draw

Re: Margin vs Fruit Tingles
Its important that we're competitive, but that we don't win any more than 2 more games this season.
As long as we finish no higher than 13th we will get an easy draw again next season.
With the unplayable Roberton, Longer, Armitage, McCartin and Pierce all off the list next year we will have plenty of room to add another mixture of young talent and mature-aged, ready-made players that can get on the field and contribute to club success in a meaningful way next year!

We are a big chance to take this one away but then again we could lose.

Roberton is going around again.
We’ve had difficult draws after finishing lower down the ladder. There are no guarantees.

Re: Margin vs Fruit Tingles
I live in Adelaide. I remember the Saints beat Crows in a mini-league match at the old Footy Park around 25 years ago (my son played in that game) but not much since, and there have been a lot of disastrous performances in that time.
Tonight is a real chance against an unsettled team.
For once, I feel the umpiring may be for us, keeps the 8 more alive and there is no Foot or Glastsis.
C'mon Saints!

It is their best possible team, and it is basically exactly the same team which played in a Grand Final less than two years ago.tonyh wrote: ↑Sat 03 Aug 2019 5:17pm I live in Adelaide. The umpiring will almost certainly not be with us.
This one will be bad - 100 points.
EDIT: Rumour on BigFooty (via FB) that Billings has gastro too. If true this makes my sad prediction highly likely.

In China, they flew 2 guys over but didn't use them.
No, we played guys who 24 hours earlier, were driving a porcelain bus, who lost fitness, so had no energy.
Drop Jack and play an emergency who can give a second effort without fainting FFS.
A flat Billings can't compete, can't run.

As I say, this is a rumour on BigFooty which was first posted on Facebook so it may not be fact. Apparently Paton and Billings do live in the same home so there may be some truth. Just occasionally we get a result in SA, but not for many years !
