Re: Battle for Acres; Team Selection.
We had them on toast early but inaccurate which hurt us
Still in it at 3 quarter time (down by only a couple of goals) but eventually lost 10.8 to 15.7 with Walker kicking 4
There was no Marshall (Longer played) and no Carlisle
Battle did well but the Stats showed just too many did not get enough of it
Paton was one who did get it a bit but it was left to too few
Maybe a better balanced side on the park this time - especially Marshall and Carlisle

Cannot understand the obsession with Rice...he he crap!! Plain and simple. Too small and can’t run.
Delist as soon as we can.
White on the other hand I thought would’ve been given given a go, his form is far far stronger for a longer period.

Still disappointed with no White... would have played him ahead of Savage, Dmac and Newnes

Boy, there must be something wrong with White that we don'y know about.
He seems ready made to me. Superb kick, fast and fit, reliable mark, hard as nails.
Rejected by two coaches.

Re: Battle for Acres; Team Selection.
Some say Richo was coaching to save his career, not wanting to drop Weller last year, Newnes this year...
Is Ratten doing the same? Is he keeping White out, thinking about winning at all costs?
If he wins the job next year, will he dump someone and play White, because he can then afford to look long-term?
A real Sainter will pledge allegiance to the ❤ and despise the Pies, the Blues, and the Injectors.

The reality appears to be that White just isn’t rated very highly inside the club juxtaposed with his actual onfield.
About a year ago, one of the forum insiders described him as not very smart and it really concerned me because i worries that that might be the internal with the coaches.
It’s been several years of players that have been consistently mediocre getting games ahead of him when IMO he should be 20-30 games in

Maybe White just isn't that good. Like Rice.
Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

I'd like to know the reasoning behind it, it must be an internal / attitude reason.skeptic wrote: ↑Fri 02 Aug 2019 7:29amI don’t think so.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Fri 02 Aug 2019 2:00amSome say Richo was coaching to save his career, not wanting to drop Weller last year, Newnes this year...

Whether he's smart or not has never been a prerequisite for AFL football. Perhaps he beats to his own drum and is out of step with the club.

Re: Battle for Acres; Team Selection.
I think the reasons for both are different. Rice I agree is not good enough for best 25. White named in the best at Sandy something like 9 or 10 times out of 13 or 14 so can play & on that body of evidence alone should be playing seniors.
I suspect he'll be one we look at in 3 years and ask why he's not playing at St Kilda.

Betts will kill us without Gears.
Not sure who goes to him, would be a huge task for Coff or Paton at their number of games. We don't really have a great matchup for him.

I prefer to think (hope) this will be the making of Paton or Coff. We may even play Wilkie on him. He has the discipline, maturity and ability to read the play.

Re: Battle for Acres; Team Selection.
The best way to stop Betts is stopping the ball getting to him.
The Betts contest will be won or lost in the midfield.

It looks like Hanners spread the gastro.

Parker on Betts and Dmac to do the forward line high pressure tackle stuff.... hmmm... wouldn’t mind seeing how that went for a bit either!

Re: Battle for Acres; Team Selection.
Always hate these nebular comments
His form at Sandy is good and his performance in the seniors has at least at times been as good or better than other fringe players that have been more consistently selected.
Simply saying he’s no good with no basis is a pointless contribution

Re: Battle for Acres; Team Selection.
No it's not.
People on here have some weird fetish for White like he is an absolute gun in the making. I simply trust the expierenced coaches more who work with White every day in a pro environment. Maybe White isn't really up to it, maybe he has attitude problems, maybe he's not following team rules, maybe he's not fit enough, etc.
Anyway, I hope White turns out ok but there is obviously more to it otherwise Ratta would have played him.

Other than not playing him... you have any basis for any of that?tedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Fri 02 Aug 2019 12:10pm No it's not.

It’s crystal clear that he’s not rated as I’ve said... u said it might be because he’s no good. Why would you think that?
Any reason at all that isn’t knowledge of results?

Re: Battle for Acres; Team Selection.
Well, if he was any good he would be getting a game at the moment. They are picking Clark, Coffield, Savage and Paton ahead of him.
Yes, and obviously there is a reason or reasons he is not rated. Personally, I trust Ratta more than any of you guys on here regarding the fetish brigade on White.

Re: Battle for Acres; Team Selection.
White's 11 games at AFL level, and his VFL form have surely shown enough to suggest he should be in our best 26 at the moment.
The boy can most certainly play, to suggest he is no good is ridiculous.
There is obviously an attitude problem or something behind the scenes we don't know about, because on form and talent, he is ahead of many who are regularly selected. I hope he can correct whatever is keeping him out of the team because he has the potential to be a wonderful asset.

Re: Battle for Acres; Team Selection.
A big part of being a good player at AFL level that will get you selected is having the respect of your teammates, the right attitude, good training habits, dedication, etc.
Talent alone or potential is not enough and never should be.

Re: Battle for Acres; Team Selection.
I've never imagined myself as having a fetish but if being confused about why White is continually overlooked is one, I'll bow to someone infinitely more in touch with what makes a fetish.tedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Fri 02 Aug 2019 12:15pm Well, if he was any good he would be getting a game at the moment. So the argument is he’s no good but I have no idea why but he’s def no good.
Really good stuff as usual. Thanks for contributing
