Re: Battle for Acres; Team Selection.
Josh Battle will make his return to the senior line-up ahead of Saturday night’s match against Adelaide.
The forward-turned-defender has spent the past three weeks on the sidelines with a knee injury, but is raring to go following a successful return through the VFL last weekend.
Utility Blake Acres will miss with a shoulder injury sustained in last week’s clash against Melbourne.

Come on Boys - Plenty of chances to take it up to the Crows!
On the whole - I like this line up - allowing for the fact that Acres is injured

Re: Battle for Acres; Team Selection.
Even tho acres came back on he looked very sore. I noticed he couldn’t get his right arm around the player next to him in the team song at the end of game
Bit of a loss, was finding good form, battle a good in albeit not really like for like

Crows have brought in Dad's Army. They're going to be slow. Need to exploit it. If Marshall fires and gives our mids first use, we'll beat them on the spread. Just need some clean ball use.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Thu 01 Aug 2019 7:50pm CROWS have wielded the axe!

Re: Battle for Acres; Team Selection.
Yep, appears terminal for both. White appeared to play a better game last week than arguably any of the emergencies & Battle.
Build wise, kicking and running appears more like for like than Battle for Acres.
That said, Battle is definitely a best 22.
Rip em a new one Saints!!!!

Re: Battle for Acres; Team Selection.
If Richo were still coaching, it would have been different.
I think Ratts put Battle in F50 to address our short fwd line- we need tp stretch the Crows.
Attacking rather than being defensive.
I like it.
Remember Ratts knows his stuff, and he's worked with our guys all year.
I trust him.
Betts is a concern, DMack was monstered by Cameron of Lions so I'm glad DMack isn't in.
Sav can't go with Betts, Paton will be too green.
Betts might get 5-6, he got 6 against Tigers

Re: Battle for Acres; Team Selection.
Good lineup for the Saints, not impressed by crows changes, we're in with a chance. Dropping Jenkins means the 3 talls become 2, we can manage that, esp. with Battle as an option back if needed. Let's not kid ourselves, their ruckman O'Brien is really good, both in ruck and around the ground, so there's a real threat there. Sloane and Brad Crouch are real dangers too. Talia and Hardigan are solid in defence, but there's not much else.
C'mon Saints!
C'mon Saints!

We should run them off their legs....they already have an ageing list and then they go and bring in 4 dinosaurs against a side that's known for its run.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Thu 01 Aug 2019 8:00pm Yes I think we have a lot more pace and better runners.

Remember Ratts was the forward line coach when we couldn’t kick more than 100 points. The new forward line coach Skrobo is the gun.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Thu 01 Aug 2019 8:06pm If Richo were still coaching, it would have been different.

The forward line is functioning a lot better now but I think the key is that we're getting a lot more F50 entriesGershwin wrote: ↑Thu 01 Aug 2019 9:14pmRemember Ratts was the forward line coach when we couldn’t kick more than 100 points. Re: Battle for Acres; Team Selection.
Remember that when we played them under the roof earlier this season they out marked us comprehensively - both in attack and in defence where Keath was marking everything
Hence Battle forward - noting there is no Keath
I do not recall their other marking players - except Walker who grabbed a couple
Be interesting to check out the marks taken last time against them

Our best marking players are Carlisle and Marshall and neither one played that match. To the top wrote: ↑Thu 01 Aug 2019 11:06pm Remember that when we played them under the roof earlier this season they out marked us comprehensively - both in attack and in defence where Keath was marking everything

Re: Battle for Acres; Team Selection.
Last time against us Walker played his best game for the year. Kicked a few.
I am concerned as to who takes Betts. Pity we haven't got Geary in the team.

Re: Battle for Acres; Team Selection.
I only checked Adelaide but Keath took 14 marks across our attacking zone and Kelly took 12
I just remember they caught everything and we lost by 5 goals in the end
