Sinclair
just thought he deserved a thread tonight .
been a bit worried about his spot in the side..he showed to me tonight why he remains in the side ...some very clever disposals in close that set up some of our most successful entries.
yep...

Re: Sinclair
His best game for a while. Like Ross's game, these should be the norm not the exceptions.

Re: Sinclair
Was good last week too. Maybe the change has done him some good. Maybe Ratts has just got him playing to his strengths or released the shackles a bit. Showed lots of class tonight.

Re: Sinclair
Sincs was prominent in that first half winning loose ground ball and also with some nice clearances from stoppage. He has that core strength like Gresh and they twist and change direction when they're getting tackled and I love it when they take the game on. Love the blind turns....so much better than just copping a tackle and waiting for another 50/50 stoppage.

Re: Sinclair
A much better game from him this week, but I can't see him keeping his spot with Hannerbery and Steven back in unless he can string a few together and get some consistency.

Re: Sinclair
Bit of an enigma Sinclair, he has the potential to be a star.
Smart, skilful makes good decisions and very creative.
Hopefully undwr Ratten he will break through whatever that glass ceiling is.

Re: Sinclair
Such a good user of the ball and but for the occasional glitch like the kick for goal, really showed why we should persist

Re: Sinclair
In 2017 - he was the only player rated elite by Champion Data. And in which position was that? Wing. Fvcking wing.older saint wrote: ↑Sun 28 Jul 2019 4:05pm Best game in a long time. On wing which may have helped also
Where Cho refused to play him thereafter. So Ratts has done what Teague and Shaw have done ... just play the players in the positions they’re best suited to ... rather than where he he’d like to play them.
FFS. No rocket science.
That said - Sincs has the best disposal by foot and is one of our best decision makers. Loved his complete game last night

Re: Sinclair
Good all night but most prominent in the last quarter when the game had to be won. He and Lonie both stepped up to the plate.

Re: Sinclair
From the age.com
"St Kilda was well served by its usual midfield dynamos in Jade Gresham and Seb Ross (31 disposals each) but also from a player who is more often seen on a flank or a wing, Jack Sinclair. He was clean in his ball use and composed, and at times moved with a balance reminiscent of a more famous Saint wearing the No.35."

Re: Sinclair
i have always thought Sinclair has a Harvey like quality. A low centre of gravity, an excellent decision maker and creative with his disposals. Not a long kick, he will often take the option to pass it off rather than take the direct shot at goal, as Harvey used to do.
I have never understood his knockers on here. Fifteen Sinclair disposals are worth 20 to 25 by most other players on our list. He should be considered an almost automatic selection.

Re: Sinclair
Unless he can kick the ball 80 metres (which he can’t, he can only kick 45) not sure why his 15 are more valuable than another’s 25?
I’d rather him get more of the footy than his opponent.

Re: Sinclair
Oh, and along with the ball winning, he hasn’t got the acceleration and line breaking ability of Sir Robert. Sincs is a B Grader, Harvey was the rung above elite.

Re: Sinclair
Because he uses the ball better than many of his team mates and often finds players in good positions.
Too often in the past you would see some players doing short handballs to team mates (often just to the nearest St Kilda jumper) with an opponent on him. Disposals like that often have no value as the players gets tackled and a stoppage results. If it is holding the ball then it is a negative result.
One reason why Marshall has become such a weapon is that when he wins a clearance that he his hitting team mates in the clear with his handballs.
