Ratts media persona
Early doors but I am quite enjoying Ratts candour and straight talking when it comes to fronting up to the media.
I personally had a real bugbear with Richos media personality.
In my mind he dished up a whole lot of words that meant nothing. On top of that the overuse of pleasing, positive etc drove me nuts!
Ratts is more what you see is what you get. Matter of fact straight talking
Hopefully that translates to clear and simple messaging to the playing group

Re: Ratts media persona
I’ve done a couple of coaching courses this season, one at the Saints, and one with the Pies.
Out of all the assistants Ratts was by far the best communicator.
He made me want to pull the boots back on.

I cringed when he said “strong” too in his first presser. I give him the benefit of the doubt when he’s probably been hearing it all year from someone elsesaynta wrote: ↑Sat 27 Jul 2019 3:53pmRatts also says pleasing though.MC Gusto wrote: ↑Sat 27 Jul 2019 2:29pm Early doors but I am quite enjoying Ratts candour and straight talking when it comes to fronting up to the media.

Re: Ratts media persona
We need to hire Ratten as our new coach for 2020 and beyond. He has been endorsed by Alastair Clarkson, who holds him in very high esteem. When Clarko speaks that highly of someone, the club is stark raving mad not to take note.

It's quite funny though how words can sound a bit better, perhaps even have context restored when spoken by another person.Saintmatt wrote: ↑Sat 27 Jul 2019 5:08pmI cringed when he said “strong” too in his first presser. Absolutely agree. It’s not like a player saying yeah Ratts is great it was Clarko unequivocally saying he should have never been out of coaching. Add to that the three peat as an assistant. Ratten > Scott.

I had no problem with Richardson in the media, always made perfect sense to me.

Two out of two. You couldn’t ask for more. He needs to be given the job permanently. We are playing with flair and freedom. Ratts is the man. Calling it early

Re: Ratts media persona
Is there anything wrong with saying someone was strong in the contest?
Brett Ratten said those exact words after the dogs game
Because it’s a much harder press conference after losing, and it’s much harder to win against a good team

Re: Ratts media persona
He looks a bit of a stress head in the box, but in press conferences there’s an element of, “What, Me Worry?”
He’s got us playing with similar abandon. Good, positive attacking football. I hope he gets the gig.

G’Day is a pretty traditional way to say hello in Aus
The message is for Saints fans
Big deal?

Re: Ratts media persona
True enough. But someone has completely ruined a few words in the English dictionary for me: -Ghost Like wrote: ↑Sat 27 Jul 2019 6:24pmIt's quite funny though how words can sound a bit better, perhaps even have context restored when spoken by another person.Saintmatt wrote: ↑Sat 27 Jul 2019 5:08pmI cringed when he said “strong” too in his first presser. - Pleasing
- Incredibly
- Strong
I'm not sure I'll ever hear those words ever again without thinking of Richo peppering them into every sentence.
