Delistings for 2019
I know it’s a tad early but was wondering who people thought would be delisted come the end of the year. How many spots would we have to make as it stands at the moment? Who would get a 1 year contract who is out of contract at the end of this year? May be a few forced due to what we’re hearing due to medical issues but who knows.

Re: Delistings for 2019
I’d keep White and Rice myself, who knows what Richo thought about them. Maybe another set of eyes may do the trick as they’re both good users. Seeing as they’re both not playing in the seniors this week 5 games may be a stretch to prove anything.silverhalo wrote: ↑Fri 19 Jul 2019 9:44pmI'd keep Whiteaxcellence wrote: ↑Fri 19 Jul 2019 9:17pm White

I reckon you are spot on with the first five you name- White, Pierce, Longer , Rice, Armitage.axcellence wrote: ↑Fri 19 Jul 2019 9:17pm White

Paddy is contracted till end 2020 so will not be delisted, unless an agreement is reached for him to retire.
Joyce, Mayo and Brown are safe, I’d say.
Marsh and Rowe are possibles . Marsh more likely to stay.

Armo, its time. Wonderful servent of the club.
Longer and Pierce are gone if we land a ruckman.
Rowe was just a stop gap if we kept loosing big men. So he'll be done also.
I reckon Brown has done enough to be given another year.

Re: Delistings for 2019
The issue is the requirement to draft three players. So, if you keep them all plus trade in players, it becomes tricky.stkfc1 wrote: ↑Fri 19 Jul 2019 10:20pmWhite, Joyce, Marsh, Rice and Mayo should stay.George27 wrote: ↑Fri 19 Jul 2019 10:11pmI reckon you are spot on with the first five you name- White, Pierce, Longer , Rice, Armitage.axcellence wrote: ↑Fri 19 Jul 2019 9:17pm White

Also, with the list being what it is and the six win result, it is time to move on a few.
No chance of “if” on Longer and Pierce. Their contracts finish at the end 2019, and with so much injury/non performance, they are likely not to be given new contracts. There are heaps of Ruck men going around even in the state leagues who will do better than either.

Re: Delistings for 2019
This year with the additional add ons, there is a minimum of 6 to be delisted in order to get the required three draft picks.axcellence wrote: ↑Sat 20 Jul 2019 10:38amThe issue is the requirement to draft three players. Re: Delistings for 2019
Paddy, unless he signs a waiver saying he will never sue the club in the event of future brain damage. Armo should have gone to Richmond when he had the chance a few years back but deserves a lap of honour.

Re: Delistings for 2019
Cooked ad time to go
Armo as is cooked
Just not good enough and can pick up a lower league ruck as back up to Marshall
Longer
Pierce
Back up not required....as there is Joyce Clav and Logan
Rowe
So that is 4.
Trades
Someone is likely to be traded out and will probably largely depend on who other clubs may see as worth picking up
Others
Of those not contract Rice and White are the two most likely to be feeling nervous.
Rice has not been selected for the seniors in a year when we have had massive injuries and White just the once
Langlands. The Dogs game will probably be crucial for his retention.
McKenzie
Maintains the tradition of extending players contracts before we should have.

Re: Delistings for 2019
I want to retain White, I've the feeling that he's the exact type that would make us look foolish if he went to another club.
There has to be something he's not doing or has distracted him this season. From being taken to the finals last year by Richo to watch certain players to only one game this year (& not the worse on ground, even injured).

Re: Delistings for 2019
Simples- put a big target on the field at Moorabbin, get every player on the list one at time, to run and collect a handball from 40 metres out and hit the target by foot- three chances..two out three ok , one or no hits- delist.

Re: Delistings for 2019
Rowe, Pierce, Rice, McCartin, White, Brown, Armitage, Roberton.
Free agency loss, Newnes
Trade for the right price or keep
Any of Carlisle, Steven, Ross, Dunstan, Acres, Longer (or delist), Webster.
Keep the rest
Add, draft picks, trades, Free Agents, Rookie Picks
There should be up to a dozen changes imo

Re: Delistings for 2019
I think I read somewhere that Newnes isn’t a free agent. Was incorrectly listed as one earlier in the year but is off the list now. I may be wrong but it rings a bell.B.M wrote: ↑Sat 20 Jul 2019 4:24pm Rowe, Pierce, Rice, McCartin, White, Brown, Armitage, Roberton.

Re: Delistings for 2019
I don't think we'll delist paddy and roberton although I doubt either will ever play again. Have a bad feeling we'll go through the motions for another preseason with both of them. I'm not sure what our obligations are. We certainly have moral obligations but formally ... does anyone know?

Re: Delistings for 2019
I tend to agree Freely. Both contracted for 2020, both battling illnesses with no magic bullet.
8 x concussions = Do Not Risk (player or club)
2 x heart defects = Do Not Risk (player or club)
It is possibly a case of the AFL providing a solution to protect the player from the club & the club from the player.

Thankfully we got rid of Mr Beige now not too late.freely wrote: ↑Sun 21 Jul 2019 8:02am I don't think we'll delist paddy and roberton although I doubt either will ever play again. This is why we can’t afford to have another Beige coach (I reckon Banger would be that) and we get someone who wants some serious churn to the list.
I agree with a lot of what Marto has said

Re: Delistings for 2019
"churn" through the list, it sounds so simple. Why aren't all clubs taking the slash and burn approach. You and Marto could be onto something innovative here.Special wrote: ↑Sun 21 Jul 2019 8:14amThankfully we got rid of Mr Beige now not too late.freely wrote: ↑Sun 21 Jul 2019 8:02am I don't think we'll delist paddy and roberton although I doubt either will ever play again. Armitage

Rowe
Have to imagine that at least one of Paddy or Roberton needs to go. I’d be more optimistic about Dylan at this point.

Re: Delistings for 2019
Newnes might be let go, just like a certain #44
who also had a charmed life.
Not sure if any club will be sniffing around the downhill skier- even those skiers, Demons, will "prefer others".
Perhaps GC will take him.
If he gets picked up by the Blues or Dees, it will be just as "depth".
I think Mav played 2 games for the Tigers this year.

A real Sainter will pledge allegiance to the ❤ and despise the Pies, the Blues, and the Injectors.
