Sam Mitchell / Ratten
Would you take that combination ? I would.
Last 3 premiership coaches under Clarkson. Super positive endorsement by Shane Crawford. Did wonders with Eagles midfield. Hard working, did it hard way as a rookie.
Ratten to remain as Senior assistant.

Re: Sam Mitchell / Ratten
I'd take that combination, with one amendment..... Ratts to be Senior Coach. Mitchell has time on his side, and with Brett Ratten as a mentor could be our "coach in training"....... However, I have the strong sense that he'll be remaining at Hawthorn for some considerable time.

Re: Sam Mitchell / Ratten
Yep, I'm not sure Mitchell would move just to be an assistant at another club. And if Ratten doesn't get the job next year it's impossible to know what the current assistants will do. Very common for new coaches to want their own assistants.thejiggingsaint wrote: ↑Sat 20 Jul 2019 2:38pm I'd take that combination, with one amendment..... Ratts to be Senior Coach. Sam wont take on a head coach postion for probably another 5 years you would think.
Why do people think champion players can walk straight into senior coaching roll.

I think Sam is smart and will be available for a job at one of the bigger clubs, ie Richmond, Sydney, West Coast, Adelaide, Hawthorn, Collingwood and maybe Carlton.HighettMan wrote: ↑Sat 20 Jul 2019 3:13pm Sam wont take on a head coach postion for probably another 5 years you would think.

If Sam is smart then he will not be applying for Head Coaching role yet.

Sam was one of those high iq footballers
Not blessed physically with pace or size
But knew how to find it, but also never took the wrong option.
If he’s a good communicator, he is an obvious coaching candidate, maybe not yet, but in the future.
Will coach Hawthorn after Clarko imo.
