Not impossible, but we are St Kilda.

No as there is also this thing called %.
8th placed team may have 12 wins, though 13 looks more likely, but Saints would not make up the 20+ % required.

Re: Is 12 Wins Enough
Finlas?? The problem with administrations and footy departments who lose sight of the basics and lose sight of long term development in favour of short term goals is that we'll remain a mediocre team
I believe there's no point worrying about achieving finals when it is clear right now that we can't beat most teams in the top 8.
If we focus on the small steps required to improve as a club and as a playing group, then results will take care of themselves. Strip things right back and focus on fundamentals like contested footy and improving our kicking skills.
This is the time to test players and decide whether they are worth keeping on the list. Introduce players to the senior team and change things around so that guys are challenged in different positions.

Re: Is 12 Wins Enough
If that was the case, I would expect Brett Ratten to be offered a 2 or 3 year contract as senior coach.

Now we have a new coach we won't lose. Don't discount some percentage boosters too.

If we can make the 8 we could do some real damage. Ratts has finals experience which will be so fortuitous.

Re: Is 12 Wins Enough
This might sound silly but go and do the AFL predictor. I did and endeavoured to see what would happen if we win our last 6 games giving us 12 wins (I know , highly unlikely!). Even with a percentage of circa 90% I had us finishing 8th and that was not picking implausible results in other games. In fact most other games I picked what was likely to be the favourite. Have a go and see what you get.

I've done it and I get us as high as 6th. If we only win 5 then we will be 8th.1965 Saint wrote: ↑Wed 17 Jul 2019 12:35am This might sound silly but go and do the AFL predictor. Re: Is 12 Wins Enough
Something to look forward too. Of course we would have to have some actual forwards that can actual kick goals gifted to us in a special post coach resignation draft; also about half the existing players would need to develop kicking skills previously unseen, and composure.
I think its more likely a number realise, or will have realisation thrust on them, that they have played a part in Richo's failure (hence the Club's) by being so consistently inept and unfortunately a lot will start playing for themselves and their contracts, because a player cull has to come. Acres for one looked worried at the press conference and I doubt it was empathy for AR.
