Oh When The Saints Should Tell Richo He’s Done - From The Age

“Once St Kilda have made the decision that Alan Richardson will not coach the Saints in 2020, and their chances of making the finals is reduced from theoretically attainable to genuinely impossible, the club hierarchy should tell the coach that he's finishing up.
There is not a sentient person within the footy industry who believes Richardson will be coaching the Saints next year and the decision could be imminent......”

Re: Oh When The Saints Should Tell Richo He’s Done - From The Age
I can't remember the Saints being mentioned on either AFL360 or On the Couch last night. Are we that irrelevant now that we can't get a mention on either of those padded trivia shows, or might it be showing some respect for Alan because they know he is going to be told no 2020@Saints for him in the next 24 hours, I wonder. Would the club do that before have in a very short list of replacements. Who would know. The whole episode is becoming draining to the point of boredom and hardly smacks of the new sharp edged professionalism we all crave.

Just a comment - but Geelong nearly sacked Thompson before he coached them to a flag and Richmond nearly sacked Hardwick before he coached them to a flag - how long had they been in the job? What if we could have an injury free year and Bytel, King, Hannebury and everyone was fit and ready to go?

They had played finals before the drop off...SaintJohn1956 wrote: ↑Tue 16 Jul 2019 7:59am Just a comment - but Geelong nearly sacked Thompson before he coached them to a flag and Richmond nearly sacked Hardwick before he coached them to a flag - how long had they been in the job? As much as I have criticised Richo over the last two seasons, this has been on my mind a bit latelySaintJohn1956 wrote: ↑Tue 16 Jul 2019 7:59am Just a comment - but Geelong nearly sacked Thompson before he coached them to a flag and Richmond nearly sacked Hardwick before he coached them to a flag - how long had they been in the job? You have to feel for him. Its almost like the universe has conspired against him this year. We've had the most ridiculous run of injuries to key players, and we just dont have the depth of other lists in the AFL. I doubt any coach out there would have done much better with who's been on the park.barneyboyz wrote: ↑Tue 16 Jul 2019 8:32amAs much as I have criticised Richo over the last two seasons, this has been on my mind a bit latelySaintJohn1956 wrote: ↑Tue 16 Jul 2019 7:59am Just a comment - but Geelong nearly sacked Thompson before he coached them to a flag and Richmond nearly sacked Hardwick before he coached them to a flag - how long had they been in the job? Just look at the way we take the ball forward after 6 years you really shouldn’t need to know much moreSaintJohn1956 wrote: ↑Tue 16 Jul 2019 7:59am Just a comment - but Geelong nearly sacked Thompson before he coached them to a flag and Richmond nearly sacked Hardwick before he coached them to a flag - how long had they been in the job? Well due that trigger clause, it will not happen till it is mathematically impossible, rather than theoretically impossle.st.byron wrote: ↑Tue 16 Jul 2019 6:56am https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/oh- ... 527gp.html

Finnis and Winters both signed off on Richo's unwarranted contract extension, and this trigger, clause and both should hold their heads in shame.
Two years of not even treading water is the result.
The club should have moved on, but instead has been stuck in limbo.

Agree that the mathematical impossibility is probably the point where they will feel safe to pull the trigger. Also agree with your comments about wasted time. He was only kept on this year because of money.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Tue 16 Jul 2019 10:36amWell due that trigger clause, it will not happen till it is mathematically impossible, rather than theoretically impossle.st.byron wrote: ↑Tue 16 Jul 2019 6:56am https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/oh- ... 527gp.html

I hope they pull the trigger before we play Carlton. This year has been hard enough, I can't handle losing to that mob as well.

As soon as it is mathematically impossible we should announce we are moving on and he is moving out.
He’s had more than a fair go at it.
