Sounds like a good fit!saintsRrising wrote: ↑Sun 14 Jul 2019 5:53pm Well if Cogs has done his ACL today then it throws things up into the air.
GWS may choose to no longer match a UFA offer - Hawthorn will be happy
Cogs may however now look more favoyarably ona guranteed long-term off on huge money - might give the Saints a sniff. But also means effectively no Cogs for us for 2020 if it happened.

Hit him with a knockout bid.

Re: Saints to throw $1.4M/y at Coniglio
We are yet to get the players.
Marshall now looks to be a our first genuine new star since we drafted Jack Steven. And he is a rookie pick.
We have to get BETTER at picking players.
But we also will need to think outside the box to get players.
Currently we are copying doing it badly.
ie Our Irish players and our ex-basketballers and trying to re-build players who have had chronic soft tissue problems.
At least recovery from an ACL injuris pretty much a known science these days..(At least we hope so, thinking of Max). But yes is still a risk as some players can keep having them.

Re: Saints to throw $1.4M/y at Coniglio
Wouldn’t pay 1.4 for him. I’d pay 2 good players 750k
Maybe Jack Martin, maybe Zac Jones
I like the look of Caldwell and Cerra to, would offer them overs and a long term deal to shake them out from their clubs although with B Hill coming back to Melb, perhaps Freo could match an offer to Cerra, and if Cogs leavers the same with Caldwell.
B.Hill would be a long shot, but you put a good offer to him
Either way we need two classy running mids and if Steven leaves, we need three

Agree with your theory but not sure what you’d need to pay to get talent to the club, $750 might not do it.
We offered three years to Kent a Melbourne fringe player.
Offer the Hill brothers $1M each?

600-800 will get you an A Grader. North payed overs a bit for Polec, like we did for Dan, because of the massive room both teams have spare in their TPP.
Put that in perspective, I am pretty certain Carlisle and Steven are on around 600-650 and are only behind Hannebury as our highest paid players.
Tigers have two on 800-1M

Re: Saints to throw $1.4M/y at Coniglio
Not many. $800K is the new $1M after they all got a 20% pay rise last year. The money is not the issue anyway - it's the club and the stink attached to it.
The thing that annoys me more than anything is that both Norf and Carltoon have both shown plenty since they showed their coaches the door. That alone creates not only improved culture and goodwill around a place - but it also demonstrates in the most emphatic way that there are signs of life and more importantly - gives potential recruits and their their eventual new Senior Coach a reason to want to be a part of their organisations. They could quite rightly be considered in the running for an A Grader should they come up for bidding. This past 6 weeks has put those two clubs miles ahead of St K.
Meanwhile - we're still sitting around with our fingers up our bum playing an over-coached game style that doesn't allow our team to even score 70 goddamn points per week. We're not showing anything to our potential recruits and Senior Coach.
And whilst I get that an unnecessary payout to Richo had we punted him earlier is unpalatable (or the AFL flat out said 'no!')... this is the real damage that is being done. Talk about having a double-edged sword as a result of being in so much debt.
Simply, the Finnis extension has caused this.

All good. Nigs out for the year. He will be right for us Rd 1 next year! Beauty!
Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

I think the only chance we have of getting him is if we get Lenny Hayes back at the club first.

I think people arw delusional sometimes. It is so, SO much harder for us to attract decent players than it is for the 'big clubs'.

There is a difference between A Grade and elite, which is the upper echelon of the league in a certain position
Million dollar platers!
Most teams have Multiple A Graders who are generally on 600 to 800
