Step 1 Substantial offers to Clarkson and/or Lyon.

Step 2 Slightly less substantial offer to Longmire.

If the above fails, form a Panel consisting of say: Nick Riewoldt, Stan Alves and Dermott Brereton and put Coaching applicants through a vigorous process.

Its a no brainer.

Edit after reflection: Brereton thought Watters was a genius. So there probably should be someone else instead of him.

Maybe Scott is having second thoughts about taking on the job as our senior coach because he is genuinely questioning his own ability to make big picture judgements and basically questioning whether he does in fact need a total break from the game.

If he did come to St Kilda he'd only be given 1 year to get the team gelling and everyone including the sports journos and the media and the St Kilda fans would expect that he takes us to finals in his second year. If we take on a rookie coach or someone like Ratts or Voss who have not coached their own team for quite a while we would all be a bit more firgiving, but I think Brad Scott will only be employed if he has finals in mind for the Saints and not if he has a rebuild in mind.

In light of the recent wins from the Kangaroos under a different head coach and also if you combine Brad's assessment of the Kangaroo list versus the Saints list and the fact that he was willing to jump ship, maybe he is also having second thoughts about whether he wants to face up to the blowtorch that will come his way from year 2 onwards.

I suppose the choice for BS will be whether he takes on the Saints and faces up to some heat or whether he walks away from a potential $2-3 million contract...hmmmmm...I know which road I'd take.

I understand your feelings Saynta, I truly do but if the club appoints him then I want him and the players big success from 2020. I won't stop supporting them if B Scott becomes coach if you know what I mean.

Personally, I'm willing to give the bloke a clean slate if the club appoints him which is out of our hands anyway.
