That 78 season was the most St Kilda-only dramatic cataclysm of a season. At 13-14 yrs old, (having been too young for the heyday up to 72) finally, we were decent for the first third of the season, and then the boiler completely blew up, the wheels completely fell off. We got hammered by South. Didn’t Carl go missing for ten weeks? What a mess, and then finally at the end of the season, we managed to regroup, and hammer Carlton only to miss the five on percentage. What the heck happened next?Carlton win flag in ‘79 and we go into a ten year tailspin.
