We're officially a bottom 4 Club
With Hawks winning tonight in Round 15 and going above us on the ladder, we are bottom 4 - deep into Richo's 6th season
If we end up bottom 4 again at the end of this year it'll be 4 years out of 6 for Richo
It's not all Richo's fault of course. Watching a bloke like Ben McEvoy chalk up his 200th and watching how well Rhys Stanley is going, plus with the ridiculous backing of Longer over Hickey in early 2017, there are obviously a few more footy department heads and admin staff that need to clean our their desks if we are going to be a succesful club once again

Geez its doom and gloom Friday on this joint tonight. Saddest place on the net.
Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

If I was a player at St Kilda I'd be pretty pissedoff that Hawthorn have gone above us on the ladder
Time to stand up and see who cares enough to get us off the bottom. The game is also going to be televised on Channel 7
Let's hope the coaches don't get in the way of us giving it a red hot crack.

The good news is we’ve beaten a team above us.

Re: We're officially a bottom 4 Club
This time last year we were 15th too, so Lethers review has done a treat. Richo is the right man to coach the club. Sure. I bet Simon wishes now he had stood up to Finnis at the time. We ended 16th - and Melb. one below us now are stalking us over that possy. Gawn's ankle and Newnes may be the difference between 3rd and 4th pick - surely not 2nd. (Which we will consider putting on the table to get the best draft result for the club, blah blah blah).
Sure Pelchen's madness has cost us but it was enabled by others. Just as others have compounded that idiocy and enabled Richo. Case study in mismanagement of a playing group. Bassatt and Lethlean must have run out of clichés and fob offs now. Mathematically possible to make the 8? - under the current management we need 3 seasons to win 13 or more games. What the heck is going on. Didn't we beat Hawthorn comfortably early.

And with the side we have going to Tasmania tomorrow things could get a whole lot worse.tedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Sat 06 Jul 2019 12:03am Geez its doom and gloom Friday on this joint tonight. Saddest place on the net.
It is well within the realms of possibility that Melbourne can beat Carlton tomorrow at the MCG and if we lose by enough, which I suspect we might, we could well be 16th tomorrow evening!
Not good enough. And should not have been allowed to have gone this far.
Then next week we have Geelong at Geelong and that is when sh!t gets real.

And by tomorrow afternoon we may have beaten three teams above us, if Melbourne beats Carlton and we're 16th.
I cannot believe the situation was allowed to get this far.
The circuit breaker should be Geelong at Geelong next week.

Re: We're officially a bottom 4 Club
Yes, we're bottom four, bur we're two quality midfielders away from being top 8. If we could snare Coniglio and pick up another high quality mid in the draft, our team would perform much better than it does at the moment. Okay, we were 15th this time last year, but we've played much better football while having one of the worst injury lists in the comp.

Re: We're officially a bottom 4 Club
Who actually thinks we aren’t a bottom 4 team?
I think the sooner that is realised, the better off some people might be?!
We are actually a bottom 2 team with this season’s injuries.
I know we like to blame AR for the state of the club, and he bears some of the responsibility without doubt. But it goes back way further.
The hierarchy takes some blame for lack of resources in recruitment and development up until 2012
Ross Lyon must take some blame for his lack of development and care for draftees and players in the vfl. His handling of Steven, Armitage and Lynch in their early years was ridiculous
The 2009 draft tore the fabric out of the joint. L.Ball, X.Clarke and M.Maguire out for zero, Jesse Smith and W. Johnson. Three of the playing group leaders and most popular players chopped.
Then the big one
Pelchin. The man who is responsible for strategically letting go B. Goddard, N .Dal Santo and B. McEvoy.
Whilst down grading picks to get 2 for 1s
We let go picks 12, 13, 20 in the time we let go stars.
Tony Elshaug must take some responsibility for his declaration that Paddy’s diabetes would actually make him a better player? AR put it on him that for the clubs sake we needed to get this pick right. Even without the career ending concussions it was the wrong selection. Petracca wouldn’t have been the saviour, but he’d be in the 22 now.
Finally AR
He has gotten the cards he was dealt taking over a basket case, but he hasn’t played them well either. I’d say 16/17 he did a great job (with the assistance of Roo and Joey) but many players like Bruce, Membrey, Ross, Roberton, Dempster Geary we’re playing great footy under him and the manic pressure game stood up. Last season was a disaster. First half of this season was very good, but will end in disaster. Alan will lose the group as it becomes obvious he is gone, and injuries have taken a toll.
Haven’t touched on
Leaving Tasmania - the woeful and weak decision
Seaford - a necessary move at the time, but wasn’t sold to the players and not embraced by club
Recruiting of A.Lovett with all the intelligence suggesting it was a dangerous decision, stupid decision!
Funny thing is
Most of these things happened, they were fully supported on SS! And when challenged on the forum the pitchforks came out and outspoken people were howled down and labelled as non supporters. When in fact the opposite was true, those people cared, but had the foresight to see that what was happening was wrong and ultimately going to be costly.
Now it’s ok, even popular to lay blame on those things.
But even more popular to blame Alan Richardson for all the failings of the StKFC
When In fact it is a combination of a whole lot of things that bought us to this position!
New coach will not be a saviour, get that in your heads now I suggest. Another rebuild is on the cards.

The circuit breaker will not come till we cannot mathematically make the finals. At that time Richo's payout will become manageable as his trigger clause will no longer be possible.. The Club can then announce that Richo will not be coaching next year and hopefully a gentelemen's agreement will then occur that he will stand aside.
We are currently only 4 points and % outside of the 8 and with 8 and so the trigger clause is still possible.

Re: We're officially a bottom 4 Club
The only way we are going to get a gun to come to us is if we snag a gun coach like we did with Blight.
Despite how bad that ended up, it still enabled us snare Gehrig, Hammil and Brett Voss.
Imagine if we snared similar quality players next year.

Re: We're officially a bottom 4 Club
Let's remember something: we were picked to finish dead last by many pundits at the start of the season. So far, we are 1.5 games better than last year. That's not saying I'm satisfied, but there at least has been some progress. And let's all put into account how ravaged the team has been from injuries. We've been without our best player for a fair chunk of the season, too.
We also have a one-dimensional coach who'll be replaced before next year. Sure, we might finish in the bottom 4 again, but I still think the club is on the right track. 2020 will represent a new era for the club. We've done our time in AFL purgatory, here's to finally moving onwards and upwards!!

What’s the guarantee the next coach is the one?
There was optimism about Scott Watters, there was optimism about AR, there was hysteria around blight, around Watson
funnily enough, the only two I remember where there was reservations about were Grant Thomas and Ross Lyon when they took over
