Why Was Nathan Brown Dropped for the Last 2 Games?
Brown has probably been our most reliable defender this year. He has been like a General down back.
So why was he dropped before the Brisbane game? Is it because selections feel we can't have both Brown and Carlisle in the backline? Or is he being managed/rested?
I, for one, would like to see him back in the team.

He is our most reliable defender.
I can't recall him being beaten all year.
His omission the last two weeks is selection madness!!!!!!
Apparently he played well for Sandy yesterday.
BRING HIM BACK!

Tom Lynch wouldn't have got a kick against him today. I didn't think Lynch was great at all.

That's funny because when he was in the side saints fans were calling for him to be dropped and that Richo only playing old players.
Richo can't do a thing right it seems.

Not the future. Enough talls in Carlisle, Wilkie, Battle, and then Marsh, Joyce etc.

Re: Why Was Nathan Brown Dropped for the Last 2 Games?
Beats me.
Carlisle’s return from injury was the perfect opportunity to move either he or Battle forward to boost a stagnant and unproductive forward line.
What did we luck after half time today? 2.9 or similar.
Brown was very solid in defence most of the season.

Let’s see what the new coach has to say about that.The_Dud wrote: ↑Sun 30 Jun 2019 8:23pmBattle’s life as a forward is done.bigcarl wrote: ↑Sun 30 Jun 2019 8:11pm Beats me.

His first job will to be able to find a way for us to score as eight goals is not going to win you many games.
I wouldn’t discount Battle - or Carlisle - having a role there in the future under new management.

But I don’t think there’s room with Bruce, Membrey and King, who I could see flourishing under an improved gameplan.

Re: Why Was Nathan Brown Dropped for the Last 2 Games?
Midfield is the problem way more than our forwards or backs.
Let us consider 2020.
King will play in the forward line. Add Bruce and Members and that is enough marking power.
Brown may be ok now nut he will not be part if any future finals tilt.
Battle looks good down back. Let him grow in the role there. Carlisle is good enough.
Third tall will be one of Clavarino Joyce or Austin. Or Robbo in the unlikely event he plays again.
We have beaten one team of substance this year. Not one. So let is focus on 2020.
In doing that let us also keep playing Clark, and Coffield down back.
Also put Gresham back where he belongs which is as a small forward.

It would be nice to play Gresham as a small forward but there is not one watt of electricity in the rest of our midfield.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Sun 30 Jun 2019 11:54pm Midfield is the problem way more than our forwards or backs.

They are so easily smashed and with no reply.
They are like wind and solar power.
You can't rely on them, when you need them.
And then we have a Brown Out to make things worse.
Carlisle is a talented footballer but so often he appears disinterested.

I agree with everything you said about football but you are now living in the 21st century. Battery storage and other technologies will ensure that renewables are the future.ace wrote: ↑Mon 01 Jul 2019 1:45amIt would be nice to play Gresham as a small forward but there is not one watt of electricity in the rest of our midfield.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Sun 30 Jun 2019 11:54pm Midfield is the problem way more than our forwards or backs.

I'm sure when Daimler and Benz and Ford invented the first motor vehicles that many conservatives would have thought there's no way they were getting rid of their horse and cart
Nathan Brown will not be part of the Saints future. Pointless to keep playing him

Sadly I have to agree with your assessment of Australians' stupidity for renewables.Scollop wrote: ↑Mon 01 Jul 2019 2:06am

Your future, fortunately not mine, will be worse than St Kilda FC during the 1980s.

Agree re Gresham. Way too good a player to be pigeonholed as a small forward and will develop into an elite midfielder under a new coach.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Sun 30 Jun 2019 11:54pm

Gresh has got some good footy smarts but I reckon a bit over-rated. He's an onball rover type if anything, but like so many of his teammates, he needs to realise his potential and pull his finger outbigcarl wrote: ↑Mon 01 Jul 2019 6:06amAgree re Gresham.
