5 Years of All Australian
St Kilda has not had an All Australian since 2014.
And I doubt we'll even get a nomination this year.
Would a great coach turn any of our players into champions?
Or do we need a bit more than a coach to turn things around?

Re: 5 Years of All Australian
Our only AA hope is Max King - if he ever can get on the park.
Or a gun FA.
Richo can’t attract a gun FA - maybe a new coach can??

I think Billings, Gresham, Steele reek with AA potential.Special wrote:Our only AA hope is Max King - if he ever can get on the park.

Other possibles are Membrey, Marshall and Battle.

Re: 5 Years of All Australian
A new coach might actually try. I find it astounding that after five and a half years, facing his coaching mortality, Richo still won't use Jack Billings in the centre. The development of all our early draft picks stalls, because they all find themselves stuck behind one Richo favourite or another. Clark attended zero centre bounces last week. Paton and Coffield are languishing in the VFL because we're trying to avoid the kind of big, embarrassing defeats that get coaches fired. It's not working. The only reason we're still persisting with this farce is because the league gave us a soft draw and so we're somehow, cruelly, still seemingly in the finals hunt.
Yeah nah pleasing positive

You are spot on...if Richo tried Billings in the middle, heck try everyone everywhere....I would not be unhappy with Richo if he had a crack at every game style, shift players completely around....at least after 6 years he could say, " hey, I had a crack, I tried everything". But instead he has persisted with the s same mind numbing game plan and blindly selected players who were literally game dead to play week after week in the same spot returning the same piss poor outcomes.

Re: 5 Years of All Australian
Funny term that. I suppose if you criticise the team and the on field performance you are seen as a Chohater. Maybe it doesn't matter if you are a Cholover or Chohater. At least the term implies there is some passion.
When we get to a stage where fans walk away and leave the ground at 3 quarter time and don't give a stuff about turning up next week, that's when it becomes worrying for memberships and for club survival. Some of us are nearly at this point

Contenders Battle and Marshall. Although Marshall would have to get over Gawn and that WCE chap - is it Hickey, no just kidding, its Niccy.

Interesting perspective. It could easily be argued that the coach has no good players to work with.
There's justification to blame the recruiting staff more than the head coach.

Re: 5 Years of All Australian
Agree... worst recruitment in the league.
AFL throwing all the talent at GWS and Gold Coast didn't help either.
...and then Ross Lyon and co not recruiting young talent.
A perfect storm that is now delivering its destruction
